Dreamcast however, was an amazing console with awesome games! 110% underrated!!

WeskerChildReborned4676d ago

I didn't like PSP that much(just my opinion) but i did like the Gamecube.

Xperia_ion4676d ago (Edited 4676d ago )

GAMECUBE AND DREAMCAST. I don't really consider the PSP overrated cause it has double the sales on everything on that list, except for one I think, how much is lifetime sales for the gameboy color ?

Xperia_ion4676d ago (Edited 4676d ago )

Doh !!! I meant underrated, I'm at work with no sleep. FYI I'm a doorman, bored 24/7.

DivineAssault 4676d ago

N64 was a BEAST back then & i dont think it was underrated.. I seen N64 in many homes.. Thats when nintendo would get good 3rd party game IPs.. Turok, Killer Instinct, Perfect Dark, etc.. Now, nothing

PoSTedUP4676d ago

yeah i know N64 went down in history as one of the greatest. PS1 and n54 were pretty much equally the best consoles ever created.

h311rais3r4676d ago

Omg the original smash bros, perfect dark, ocArina of time, majoras mask, goldeneye, shadows of the empire, rogue squadron

N64 days....please come back to meeeeeeeeeee!!!!!

PoSTedUP4676d ago

shadows of the empire and rougue squadron, Now we're talkin'! : D

i still play goldeneye, still have as much fun with it as i did 10 years ago.
Map: facility. get golden gun and kill oramofv b4 he kills 006 and then you and 006 can shoot it out with the enemy for hours.

Oh_Yeah4676d ago (Edited 4676d ago )

n64 was when nintendo started phasing out 3rd party devs..it still didnt have as much support. snes was where it was at. they had all the 3rd party titles.

on topic though, dreamcast was underrated. it could play snes, nes, gameboy color, genesis emulators right out of the box. even played ps1 games on bleamcast no modding required. plus it had powerstone and shenmue. first online multiplayer. that great of a console and didnt get many sales? < thats what you call underrated

the reason i think it failed was because all games were free if you didnt want to pay for them. just burn them onto a cd and play. the system had nooooo security.

Damn I miss my Dreamcast...

Nerdmaster4676d ago

I tried to play mine last year, and found out that it was dead... It was like saying farewell to a dear friend.

Trenta274676d ago

Mine was caused from a power surge in a thunderstorm. I was playing it when it all of a sudden it caught fire. I actually cried because I was so stupid as to be playing it at the time =(

dark-hollow4676d ago

Shenmue, skies of Arcadia were my favorite!!!

Its a shame we still don't have a modern sequel to both of those games ):

DivineAssault 4675d ago

Grandia 2 on DC ran way better than on PS2.. i hated sony for years for taking out saturn & DC..

Hicken4675d ago

I first played Grandia II on Dreamcast when I borrowed one(and the game) from one of my underclassmen in high school.

It was instant love.

Naturally, I jumped at the chance to play it on PS2- since I actually HAD that system- and you can imagine how crushed I was that it was a poor port. I'd really love to get my hands on a Dreamcast of ONLY for that game.

Great list. Dreamcast was underrated

N64 was amazing, had sick games

Atlus coming in strong for Sega thankfully

CrimsonWing6911d ago

What about the Yakuza series and Sonic?

_Decadent_Descent11d ago

I like what's on their legacy IP list, but there are still many more franchises they could revive. Shining Force and Chakan come to mind.

The Dreamcast was the biggest gamble and way ahead of its time.

OtterX12d ago

I wish we lived in the Alternate Timeline where Sega was still a dominant force in the console space and it hadn't been Microsoft.

Deeeeznuuuts11d ago

I've always said this, would much prefer SEGA, such a shame.

blacktiger11d ago

this was all part of the plan to give Microsoft the spot

chicken_in_the_corn11d ago

Would be interesting to see what they would do for a modern console.

Saturn was a fantastic piece of kit... they just went a little too ambitious with its dual CPU setup. which turned a lot of developers off (at the time). The homebrew community have done some amazing work many years later, thanks to multichip experience. It is still the best platform for arcade fighters and shmups of all time. Dreamcast is a close 2nd though.

Profchaos12d ago

Yeah it was a interesting decision especially when looking at how dual CPU is considered a root cause of why the Jaguar was a failure.

Also the hardware rendered four sided polygons where the standard was three if they kept with triangle polygons I feel the systems development would have been easier to work with and we would have seen more third party ports in the west.

I think it was a victim of its time more than anything it saw huge success in Japan but the leadership and internal turmoil in the west meant games were not getting localised along with a focus on arcade like games were the PlayStation and later the N64 were pushing more in depth experiences over coin munching high score driven games.

Knightofelemia12d ago

I still enjoy my Saturn it was the first console I mowed lawns for and saved up for to purchase. I went so far as to purchase a used Saturn to run off an SD card. I even have a second Dreamcast modded to run off an SD card as well.
