"Before this game was even announced officially, when I became aware of Candle Route's existence on the developer's website, I had a strong feeling it would be something to watch. Now, after having played it for myself, I can say without a doubt that my belief in this game was well-founded. The fact is Candle Route is a true hit for the DSiWare platform, offering a bright and fiery trail of puzzle merriment in a way that's pleasurable, even nostalgic." -- Wiiloveit.com
"I'm a fire starter, terrific fire starter.
NOTICE: Should you have urges to start fires, be they big or small, Nintendo World Report does not condone that sort of behaviour. We have a zero tolerance rule against such crimes (same rules apply to spelling Nintendo Land as one word).
However, exceptions can be made. For starters, if you’re an anthropomorphic ball of fire, you have a free pass or two. Your pyromaniac tendencies are a bit harder to fight off in the situation, and we understand. Luckily for DSiWare title Candle Route, its good looks and inclusion of the aforementioned living ball of fire work in its favour.", writes NintendoWorldReport.
DHGF: So how do you make a game about collecting matches interesting? The short answer is it’s really, really difficult, and Candle Route doesn’t really succeed. By all means, it looks like a cute game, but ends up being a bit boring. For being worth $2, having over 100 levels is great news, but I found myself unable to stay engaged with Side A; however, Side B was much more enjoyable for me. It’s a good thing you don’t have to complete Side A in order to get to Side B, because truth be told I probably wouldn’t have been able to keep interest long enough to discover Side B if that were the case.
NC: Has your mother ever told you not to play with matches? Have you ever still wanted to play with those matches when you were a kid? Did you’ve ever want to light off a rocket into space? I know I have, and Candle Route for DSiWare does just that. Should you really download this game? Well that is exactly what I’m here to help you decide.
