New To MMOs: The First Steps on a New Game

When you're new to MMOs, there is a lot to learn. As some one who is new to a LOT of different MMOs, let me give you a few pointers to start.

Anyone know any good free to play mmos that are enjoyable without buying stuff? would like to try one, but don't want to invest cash money in it until I'm sure I like the genre.
