The DLC debate: why don't gamers want developers to make money?

Digitally Downloaded writes: "This is a very difficult industry to do business in. Surely if you like games, then trying to support the industry is better than resisting it? Or, in other words: if you like the game, it really isn’t healthy to complain about forking over $1 for a bit of DLC that you want anyway."

Make money? Yes. Nickel and dime? No.

MattS4358d ago

Are you sure about that? No developer is even coming close to "Nickel and dime." 30 per cent cost-to-revenue ratio is the number most businesses aim for. Breaking even isn't even close enough for a sustainable business.

And yet, even though virtually no one is hitting the targets to be a sustainable business, gamers are complaining about the prices they have to pay, and even $1 DLC.

No, gamers are not complaining about "Nickel and dime." They're complaining about making money.

Gimme a dlc worthy of my money and ill buy it. Gimme on-disc content, costumes, weapons and small things like those and charge me $10 ...

It literally is a theatrhythm game.

mastershredder1338d ago

Lol okay..sure as heck looks and feels like a mee-too template based rhythm game (regardless of how your consumer gamer brain thinks). All that name dropping and “history lesson” took this article to new realms of “techraptor does not make any money doing this anyway”. Just consider that. You do this crap for free. Winning.
