IGN - Seth Killian Discusses Moving From Capcom to Sony

IGN - As we reported earlier this morning, Seth Killian – long-time Capcom employee and staple in the fighting game community -- now works for Sony. This move has considerable implications for both Capcom and Sony, of course, and we were lucky enough to speak with Killian about his decision and where this new path at a new company is bound to lead him.

The ship is no longer shifting side to side, it's downright sinking at this point. So many people leaving left and right.

GarrusVakarian4105d ago (Edited 4105d ago )

He left in December......

3 months is a long time for a ship to sink, lol.

A little tip for people who like to spread FUD, read the article and not just the headline, otherwise your FUD is easily debunked.

GarrusVakarian4105d ago

So today we have had lay-off's from 3 companies. And then further news of 2 people leaving, one in December and one in February. All of which has been reported within the same day, making it seem like there's a mass exodus going on at Sony, lol.

My question is, why are we only hearing about devs leaving months ago now?

rainslacker4105d ago (Edited 4105d ago )

The reason is simple Lukas. The fanboys are getting riled up that there is a "mass exodus" over at Sony. So making an article about someone leaving means sites get hits as those fanboys go looking for evidence to prove their arguments.

Ever notice how one story that stirs up the forums tends to get several companion articles from other sites looking to cash in? It's how we get all those gate scandals that we all love so much.

We'll it is a big ship....

darthv724105d ago

Not disagreeing with you but in some situations, the departure of an employee can take time to become public knowledge. sometimes companies accept the resignation but still keep you there until a replacement has been found.

It is odd that we hear about this many months later but if he officially revealed this info initially in December then it could just be that it was not prominent then as it is now in relation to the more recent leavings of others.

2 weeks notice is one thing but 3 months notice???

Flutterby4105d ago

It seems like some people are trying to make things seem worse than they actually are. With the way PS4 is selling and all the good news from devs left and right and infamous being an amazing game , some insecurities are taking there toll on the Xbox team and they really really need something negative about ps4 to hold onto or all hope is lost.

Dark114105d ago

Something serious is happening at sony first party studios.

trying to downplay the lay-off's won't make anything better.

nukeitall4105d ago

People leave for a variety of reasons, usually if they found a better job, or if it suits them better.

However, many of the Sony employees are leaving without jobs? Even executives!

Makes you wonder....

Magnes4104d ago

The other guy from drive club Col Rodgers worked at EA before Sony and Sega before that its how it works

scott1824104d ago

Sad to hear about a dev that left months ago, hope he is doing well.

I'm glad that Sony is doing much needed restructuring, and I can't wait to see what Sony Santa Monica is working on.

Army_of_Darkness4104d ago

Killian was responsible for all stars battle royal, so yeah... I would give him the boot too ;-)

DOMination-4104d ago

I don't think it matters that it was in december. The last three months has not been good for Sony. Loads of key people leaving, a gimmicky peripheral announcement and no news on new games. They only announced one big game each of the last few e3s and I think they are goimg to do the same this year.

So when Killian left Capcom in 2012 its no big news

but when Killian left Sony in 2013 after finishing his contract to help develop PSABR to develop his own independent game its suddenly it means a big sinking deal...

FUD FUD FUD

sony's not looking so hot right now. I think he making that lousy sony battle allstars didn't help him. oh well. Best of luck hoss.

Silly gameAr4104d ago

You guys are so dramatic. Really sad to see how you people are making this bigger then it is. It's like I'm reading a script for a soap opera.

ATi_Elite4105d ago

I guess he is off to make another fighting/rumble game somewhere else.

maniacmayhem4105d ago

Well seeing as how PS All Stars is over there was probably no reason for Seth to stick around. I wonder if he will go back to Capcom or find some other fighting franchise to work with.

Good luck.

GarrusVakarian4105d ago (Edited 4105d ago )

Wow another indeed.....another person who didn't read the article. I'm pretty sure you did this in the Rodgers article too.

"Killian confirmed on Twitter he left the company in December "

He left for the same reason Rodgers left, to do his own thing. I'm sorry lifeisgames, i know you wish it was for other reasons, sorry to let you down.

@PSNinty

Huh? You must not know who lifeisgamesis...if you did, you would realise his only purpose here is to troll PS/Sony articles. Just take a look at his comment history. If he did read the article, then why would he type what he did? Surely he would have mentioned that he left in December and that this too has nothing to do with today's lay-of's? But no, he didn't, because he's a troll.

PSNintyGamer4105d ago

So your're assuming his intentions eh? You're no better than he is.

PSNintyGamer4105d ago

I took a gander, and his comments just seem to be pro-Microsoft, nothing Anti-Sony. (Keep In mind I only looked at the first two pages) What exaxtly is trollish about that?

Baka-akaB4105d ago

you should keep digging then

arkard4104d ago

There is a reason he only has 1 bubble.

scott1824104d ago

Agreed Lukas, there is no way he is reading these articles, just trolling.

REDBEARD4105d ago

He was one of my favorite guys who worked at Capcom. I hope he finds work.

Flutterby4105d ago

He left months ago , he probably is already making something new with another company.
