DayZ is the most realistic zombie game ever

DayZ is one of the most comprehensive zombie apocalypse based games ever and it's not even a full fledged video game.

It's simply an amazing ArmA II mod that features a ridiculous level of detail.

Of course it is.

No offense to Arma fanboys but DayZ, in my opinion, is a better game than Arma.

The thing is, Arma 2 is a very strict military shooter. You can hardly see who you're shooting at and the combat is methodical and...well..very realistic (or as real as it gets as a 3D simulator).

DayZ takes that realism but applies horror-survival to the mix and it's amazing. I love watching the video journals of different people because it's completely unpredictable and there's no way to tell what's going to happen next.

LOL, also, I find it hilarious that in a lot of videos people make the same mistakes that people make in the movies.

No offense taken but Day Z has basically become Arma II because of the way everyone plays it.

The game has become "Shoot to Kill on sight" cause NO ONE trust strangers and everyone is out to steal everyone else's stuff. Most of your deaths come from being sniped by someone who is looking to loot your dead body.

I Never play by myself, always play with my Arma II team and although the survival part is there (eat, drink, medicine) we basically communicate and operate in Day Z just like Arma II except of course the annoying Zombies which we just sneak pass ( we sneak walk in Arma II anyway) so it's NO difference.

Day Z is a totally great game but if you wanna have a surplus of car and helicopter parts like we do then you gotta play it like Arma II.

I was actually discussing this the other day, and we were saying the same thing: that in a real zombie survival situation the people with military smarts would probably last a lot longer.

The same thing seems to apply to DayZ and i think that makes it pretty cool. You have your crazy douche bag bandits, the people who are just trying to survive, the newbs and the combat savvy gamers all tossed into a mixing bowl with zombies.

When this goes on sale I'm definitely going to get Arma II: CO and install DayZ

I really want a game like Project Zomboid but in 3rd person. Is DayZ like that? Where you have to find supplies, find shelter and a place to sleep, ect.

Yes, you can play in 3rd person if you want. You have to find supplies including weapons, if you get shot in the leg then you will start limping or bleeding out etc... so you have to bandage up. You have food and water requirements. Zombies are random and then the biggest danger is other players as you dont know if they want to kill you for your items or team up so sometimes you end up tracking players over longer distances to see what they like or hide from them. And yes you can set up a campfire.

I've never been shot, I just can't get past the damn zombies whatever I do. Crawling, crouching, laying on the floor in a room. They ALWAYS find me, they have sonar I'm guessing haha

It's totally free-roam and very, VERY, in depth!

They even go as far as giving the player dysentery if the food or water is polluted or out of date!

Noise attracts zombies and the world will be very dangerous!

Bought ARMA 2: CO for 30 bucks this weekend just for DAYZ. I can honestly say that I've never played anything like it.

The first hour or so is rough, because you don't get a weapon or many supplies, but once you get the hang of it, it's really hard to put down. I can't wait to see how this mod turns out in the next few months.

Same here, I got Arma 2 just for this and it's excellent. It's engrossing, I've spent ages going through forests so I can creep up on some buildings to scavenge for stuff. You get a buzz when you actually find some decent gear.

And hiding in the bushes while you watch another player in the distance running away from a load of zombies is great fun. Knowing that you'll probably be one of those players soon gives you a sense of dread though.

This game is crazy fun. My friend turned me onto it and we have been playing it together for a while. It really sucks that most people will kill you for your supplies and generally the more people you have around you don't know... the higher the chance shooting will start.

First time I played I found a random guy and we holed up inside a house for a while... we then moved towards a town and picked up another guy on the way. We made it into the city with only a couple of shots fired and made our way to a church.... then three more people came in... I had no idea who was who because no one has nametags.... then the three of them unloaded into the three of us and took our supplies.

So try not to trust anyone. Even if people say they are friendly get ready to defend yourself because they have a good chance of turning on you because of the lack of nametags.

It'll be even greater when it hits beta and then full. Right now, it's plagued with issues. But it is alpha, so constructive criticism and suggestions are key to future releases.

I can't wait to get back in after certain issues are solved. It's a great mod and it's a great example of PC gaming's grand advantage.

Do you have any idea when it's supposed to leave beta testing? If there are so many issues right now I don't know if I want to wait that long.

No idea, but I'm guessing months. Lot of security issues, exploits, bugs, and accidental broken bones from closing doors.

It'll be worth the wait in the end. I'm sure of it.

If I was a AAA dev, I'd pick up the geniuses who made this in a heartbeat, cause this mod is the cats pajamas, possibly one of the best Survival Horror games ever made.

Listen !!!!It was a mod cleverly created to get sales of arma2 & OA up and is being ported over to arma 3 , no surprise there.

Rocket to have the bloody cheeck to say he could have charged for it but didnt , we have to buy Operation arrowhead to play it and later arma 3 to play it..... clever clever people.

Am just waiting to see how long alpha stage will last .
Arma games are the worst bugged out crap ever , arma ,iron front , dayz mod ,worst games ive ever played for connections issues. even indie devs can release games in better states.
I hope class4 and the dead linger bury dayz into the bin where it belongs
