Review: Lollipop Chainsaw – Wonderfully Silly | EGMNOW

Lollipop Chainsaw breaks all the conventional ideas of what makes a great game, but it still a great game. It is wildly silly, campy and ridiculously, almost illegally, fun. Doesn’t take itself seriously at all and banks on the fact that players will have a sense of humor. If you do not have a sense of humor, don’t play this game.

This game is high on my "to play" list, great article, got me even more excited for it!

Double_Oh_Snap4725d ago (Edited 4725d ago )

I have beaten it twice, and still play it. I agree with this review a rare very fun, silly, and unique game I think people should give a chance.

The soundtrack is great, and the voice acting is surprisingly great as well. Do not listen to people saying this is a garbage cash grab at little boys and pervs. It truly is great a bit short, depending on your play style.

Nonetheless it still has two endings, leaderboards, arcade modes, and tons of unlockables. Not to mention it's insanely fun and addictive. Give it a chance, make sure to have a sense of humor though as the review also states.

" it's insanely fun and addictive"

That's all I need to know. If the gameplay keeps you hooked, then you don't even need unlockables and leaderboards to replay it :)

I_LOVE_MYSELF4725d ago

IS it true the game is only 4 hours long? I do want to play it, but there are so many games that are discounted that I want to play too that will probably provide more hours of equal enjoyment. There is something about this game that SCREAMS "fun" and I really want to give it a go.

Double_Oh_Snap4725d ago

It took me 7 1/2, but if you rush everything yeah you can probably do it in 4 like some have stated.

PoisonPinkFluff4725d ago

It took me 7-8 hours for a first playthrough on Normal. Rushing and skipping, on easy...probably 4 hours.

PoisonPinkFluff4725d ago

This is not an EGM review. This is my review and I don't know who this is that submitted it. This is a DigitalNoob review. We are only partnered with EGM.

I am glad that people are enjoying it and I thank you all for reading it.

Numbers 6-9 were some of my absolute favorite early gen PS3 games. I'm still bitter about Incognito and Japan Studio.

Goodguy01354d ago

The white knight chronicles and infamous games really need to come to modern platforms. MAG I really miss...poor zipper. The ps3 was definitely a unique console despite it being the worst home console of PlayStation.

Lollipop chainsaw now a remaster not a remake

At fans request apparently.

gold_drake585d ago

i wonder if they looked into what a remake would cost and went "NOPE Remaster it is" haha

FreeckyCake584d ago

It probably has to do with what the producer had mentioned recently. The thing about not wanting to change the essence of the original (e.g censorship). So maybe remastering the game was the best choice.

CrimsonWing69584d ago

The link to the story didn’t really answer the question. It makes no sense that you have to censor a remake and not a remaster.

What I got from that article is licensed music forced them to change to a Remake(?) and that they’re working hard with the platform holders to negotiate not censoring, which Sony is stupid about.

My question is, how would a Remaster not have to go through censorship?

I’ve seen dialogue changed in FF7 and Baten Kaitos. Then you have actual cutscenes being removed like in the dmc remaster.

I assume the same could be done to this game.

FreeckyCake584d ago

No idea. That's why I said " maybe ".

CrimsonWing69584d ago

Bull sh*t, you show me where fans wanted a Remaster instead of a Remake. I was more onboard with a Remake, I’m less excited just playing the same game I did before but now with sharper textures and better framerate.

ModsDoBetter584d ago

Probably realised this won't do the numbers so didn't want to invest.

No harm, I love Lollipop Chainsaw but it's a bit of a niche title.

gold_drake584d ago

yeh it was super niche even bk then

LoveSpuds583d ago (Edited 583d ago )

Loved it back in the day and have my copy sat on the shelf and ypu are right, it was super niche, which is why my copy is increasing in value slowly but surely. Hoping a remaster doesn't tank the value of my PS3 copy

....and that's a bad thing how?

343_Guilty_Spark659d ago

If it ain’t on Sony box it’s bad

autobotdan659d ago (Edited 659d ago )

Ninja Gaiden 2 was never multiplat. NG Sigma 2 is a remixed game not the same game at all

darthv72659d ago

Dante's inferno... such a great GoW inspired game. So sad the sequel was canned, it sounded like it was going to be even more epic than the first.

Vits659d ago

Yeap, classic GoW is still better mechanically. But the aesthetics and atmosphere of Dante's Inferno were just top-notch. Shame it never got a PC port, but at the very least is available on modern Xbox.

Juiceid659d ago

This list is ok, but Ninja Gaiden reigns supreme!

GhostScholar659d ago

I just can’t get into the devil may cry series. In my opinion you never feel powerful in those games. The guns are pointless as they only serve to be a flashy part of a combo. DMC was the only one that I could tolerate long enough to beat.
