The treatment of DLC is undoubtedly a touchy subject among the gamers of today. Capcom, for example, is responsible for several instances of on-disc DLC which many claim to be shameful. There is surely nothing more polarizing than the treatment of Asura’s Wrath at the hands of Capcom. Yet, in an era where some developers look to milk the consumer’s wallet for every penny, it’s important to give credit where credit is due. Ironically, Capcom has provided an excellent model for selling DLC with Asura’s Wrath. Even so, old habits die hard, and Capcom’s release of a true-ending DLC pack, although done with good intentions, could set a dangerous precedent for game endings.
Capcom Spotlight is just around the corner: tune in to see the latest titles being shown off by the Japanese masters.
New IP, please. Used to be (in the 80s) if it was a Capcom game, you knew it was good.
