Under-rated.. So under-rated

After playing the demo of this game I knew I had to have it on the first day. While waiting for the release I kept noticing more and more negative reviews and I couldnt understand why. Finally upon release I went through and completed the game.

Without spoiling the excitement of the game, I must say (and I cannot stress this enough), this game is underrated. The nectar and overall FPS mechanics of this game are excellent. If you ever played resistance this game will feel very familiar. The story is isn't mindblowing, but it will captivate you to an extent. The biggest downfall of this game, without question, is its repetitive nature. After playing an hour or so I noticed that the gameplay itself feels all too familiar, as it does nothing to innovate as far as shooters go. With a metacritical score of less than 7, you cannot expect much... but trust me when I say there is much more under the surface of this shooter than what is featured in reviews.

The strong points of this game are definitely the story, gameplay mechanics, and nectar implementation. Also, the development team. Expect Free Radical to take the best elements involved and mold them into something even more amazing.

The weak points of this game are the sub-par graphics and the repetitiveness. Graphics, to me, rarely play a factor in judging a game, but I know some readers will consider this factor (don't expect a great looking video game).

Overall, I feel like this game is a very generic shooter (On the surface), with massive potential, an excellent story, solid mechanics, and a developement team that can turn average into extraordinary.. (Timesplitters 1, Timesplitters 2). Definitely worth the purchase, can't wait for Haze 2.

I find it funny that you say it's repetitive and then give the gameplay a 10.

Hahahaha, here is the real rate on Haze:

you really live and die by those official reviews don't you?

it's a user review, stop complaining

LJWooly5965d ago

Grow up, Mart. If you're going to live by "professional" reviews, then I'm sure you'll have no problem admitting that, by this gen's standards, Ninja Gaiden 2 is shaping up to be a game that just about qualifies as "above average", no?

As for this review... well, I did like the game, but a 9.4 is pushing it. Really pushing it. It's a fun game, and it is underrated, but I would have rated it more of a 7.5, or, at the very most, and 8. In my opinion, it's a fun game, with a lot of nice ideas to it, but it just doesn't do justice to Free Radcal's impressive pedigree (they did makem the fantastic Timesplitters, after all).

The majority has spoken. This game is a flop. Leave it to the sony fanboys to try their hardest to save this game.

heyheyhey5967d ago

you've played it? no.... so how about you try and formulate your own opinion instead of worhsiping IGN?

who knows, maybe you'll like it as much as this guy did

rexor07175965d ago

Its a user review, so get over it. No one is trying to save it, we all know its quality. Some people don't like sushi, some do.

So let me get this straight, 24 people have reviewed it according to gamerankings, and how many more people have bought it than that? and yet you say that the 24 reviewers are the majority? HA! you're a moron, what a douchebag you are.

I've played the demo, and based of that, the problem with the game for me is that its just too mediocre. The framerate is good (really good) the explosions looked really good, but the textures are to flat and med-res (though not as low res as GTA 4's textures on the 360 are!) and they barely have any bump mapping. Also the HDR just didnt impress me. The game just felt generic, to normal, unexciting to me.

Gee... I wonder did a crying droid write this review? LOL sorry it's just to obvious.

Top 10 Bad Games by Good Studios

Alex S. from Link-Cable writes: "When shopping for new video games you can often trust the name publisher or developer on the box to be an indication of the quality of the game. Names like Nintendo, Square Enix, Sony Interactive Entertainment, Capcom, Xbox Game Studios and Sega are world famous because they helped shape the industry by releasing some of the most defining video games of all time. Though sometimes even these great gaming houses stumble and put out a stinker."

Splatterhouse remake . Loved the og’s at the arcade growing up . Hell the best thing about the remake was the og,s were included . And left alive by Square . That game had so much potential , but the gameplay was worse horrendous .

once Great studios getting destroyed is actually common. happened with ND and Last of Us2, Bioware and Mass Effect Andromeda/Anthem, Bungle and Destiny .

BeRich2331545d ago

Fuse should have been on that list (Insomniac Games)

Splatterhouse remake kicked ass

merryja1545d ago

I personally don't like these games.

I'm pretty much certain that any Sonic game that comes out will be terrible, I've not enjoyed one since the original side-scrolling days of the MegaDrive.

HarryMasonHerpderp1545d ago

Then you might like a recent sonic "sonic mania".

jaymacx1545d ago

For this Topic it says Good Studios that make bad games. Sonic Team hasn't been good in years.
