H-HOUR: Worlds Elite is the spiritual successor to the early Socom: US Navy Seal games of recent past. Is it worth playing?
This game was first created by David Sears, the original creator of the Socom games. He and his team ran a kickstarter but over the years the team abandoned the project , and a group of volunteers took over to pick up the pieces.
The game is on PC, and it was promised to be on PS4 , but these promises were pushed back time after time . This "out of early access" version that we recently got in February 2020 is the version that is (in theory) locked in and sent to Sony for review so it can be ported over on that platform. (Which the community really wanted in the first place)
H-Hour plays a lot like Socom 2 from the PS2, you choose a multiplayer lobby, select a team, select your guns (no customization) and the rest of your load out. You can also select your avatar skins, and dance moves. You then play on a handful of community made (recreated Socom maps) and SOF studios official maps. The lobby playlists are created by the developers for ranked, and user created rooms are unranked.
This game offers respawn and mouse and keyboard support , but the true way to play a Socom-like is in a Controller Only room playing in standard game modes like demolition, extraction ect. When you die you wait out the round, and if you kill your team mate you can get penalized if doing it too much.
The community is small, but has followed this game since the kickstarter. Most of them use microphones and using mics are very important in this game. The game has a voting system in place in case you are AFK , causing issues with your team
H-Hour has a ranking system, achievements, leaderboards but no dedicated Clan system.
Out of its early access state, and into its 1.0 VERSION, I am left kind of insulted with the final product the way it is. It still feels early access . Hopefully this game will find new life on the PS4 if they plan to port it over.
You can get H-HOUR:WORLD'S ELITE on Steam
Touted as the spiritual successor to the SOCOM series, H-Hour: World’s Elite has now entered the Beta stage of development and work has begun on the PS4 version of the game.
Really hope this game takes off...if you're interestred in starting clan, let me know!
Wonder if I'll get my PS4 copy when I pledged to back this a long time ago on Kickstarter? Or is that campaign promise dead?
One of the reasons I bought a PS4. I'll be ready for it whenever it releases.
I thought they cancelled this. The first and only game I supported through Kickstarter. I learned from that mistake.
From GameWatcher: "H-Hour World's Elite has the core of a decent multiplayer shooter, but with so little content and such a small player base it is impossible to recommend it at this stage. Hold on to your wallet until a significant update."
ok... so its 2015... We have two powerful consoles that are on par with Mid-Level PC's... what the eff is this? The narrator says realism in movement etc whic i think is bullshit. Im from the socrack aka socom 1/2 era, so i get it but at this period and gaming there is so much the developers can do and make this game look much better. Heck, this game doesnt even look better Confrontation. Metal Gear... i'll be patiently waiting lol
They doing the best they can. Like I said before they should have asked Sony for production help since Socom started on PS. They want to be independent I know but I don't think I will support this game if it stay like this. I'd be patient.
Scott spends some time with SoF Studios' Kickstarter success, H-Hour: World's Elite now on Steam Early Access. This is very much a SOCOM game that has a very strong foundation, running on Unreal Engine 4.
