Ok if you played Guitar Hero before then you know how this works. You hit colored buttons as they scroll past you. All good addicting fun. Of course to get to this fun you will need some spare time to master this on higher difficulties butonce you do there is a great since of satisfaction after completing it.
Yes this is the essence of Guitar Hero. Basically play some good rock and heavy metal songs and have a good time and this time we got over 70 songs in the game and unlike the eardrum scratching covers of Guitar hero 1 and 2 these are master tracks. Yup you will get to play the master tracks of Kiss, Smashing pumpkins, Metallica, Black Sabbath' Rage against the machine, Slayer, Guns N Roses, Red Hot chilli peppers, and many more! Plus with DLC you will have about an extra 30 songs. This will make for a great Single player mode that you can play for a long time. The only thing they are missing is Jimi Hendrix and Led Zepplin but with this quality of music its forgivable.
Carrer mode is pretty simple. Beat all the songs. They get higher in difficulty as you complete more but there is a new twist. Battle mode. Once you get to a certain stage you will face off against Tom Morello then Slash then the Devil. Tom and Slash have made their own solo songs to battle you with and of course since they are musical geniuses these songs kick ass. The Devil battles you with a Metal version of the devil went down to georgia by the Charles Daniels band which is also a very good (but VERY HARD) song to play. The only let down is that the last gorop of songs get very hard to beat on hard mode and beyond. It took me about a month of practice to finish hard mode and to this day im stuck on the last group of songs in expert. But if you commit yorself to it or you are simply blesed with lighting reflexes you can complete this quest to being a rock god.
Multiplayer mode is a little iffy. They gave a batle mode where you get power up that basically cripple the opponent and make him lose. However there is a much better Por face off mode where 2 people battle for who can score higher. Co-op mode works very well. One plays bass and the other plays lead and this can make for a much higher score and unlock more content. Unfortunatly this content also includes songs. Yes you need a friend to unlock a few bonus songs (about 6 of them) which include Red hot chilli peppers and Blue Oyster Cult. Lucky or me I can just use a cheat for that since I dont have a friend with Guitar Hero 3.
Online works for the most part but its a little slow sometimes plus mic support is limited.
Overall this game has a lot of music content. The chart is eaiser to read (you can actually tell which notes are hammer ons now!) and the difficulty is just about right but it can get a little too hard on expert. But hey, thats why they call it expert. The guitar has also improved in every way. Its more comfortable, its wireless, and the fret and strum buttons are nice and responsive. So overall this game improved very well over Guitar hero 2 by using master tracks and steroid injecting the game with great music from legendary rockers. If your a metal head and love games then you should probably have this game but if you dont go get it now.
The top-selling third-party games of all time across consoles include GTA V, Call of Duty, and Guitar Hero.
In the summer, we all do things that cool us off. That’s just conventional wisdom. But what if we’ve been going about it all wrong? What if the solution is leaning in to the heat, diving into even hotter activities to show the summer we’re not scared?
Let’s beat summer at its own game here. Whether you want to murder your way through hell or skate over it, gaming has got you covered.
COGconnected - It seems like the era of rhythm game dominance has come and gone but we argue that there's still room for them if they make a few key changes.
No we DONT need guitar hero or rockband. These games have had 7+titles each console cycle and Im tired of these being the mainstream and practically only focused on musical game.
Amplitude was brought back for PS4 yet with the tech and magic of DLC we didnt get it because not only gamers but devs have become out of touch.
Thumper impressed many and is at least a step in the right direction. I rather have more games like thumper. So screw all this rockband and Guitar hero BS! Take your guitars and peripherals and break them in half!
I preferred the patapon games but yeah. We need rhythm games to come back this gen
I respond the same to these reviews: RB takes this score and blows guitar hero back to a low 8. Ironically I had to ship my guitar to RO and I haven't had a problem with any RB stuff. Plus RockBand has better songs off the bat IMO and more downloads to top it off.
Guitar hero is better than rockband!Do you get to play as slash in rockband,i think not!
