Another day, another issue with XDefiant. As with any other new game, this one is prone to criticism regarding some common issues. This time, XDefiant Players are complaining about the bunny-hopping. For those unfamiliar with this concept, basically, some players are spam-jumping, they suffer less damage, making it almost impossible for the other side to win. Fans took to Reddit to express their annoyance with the trend.
Fans in Disdain over Newest XDefiant Trend
Pikaiapus said: “It wouldn’t be as annoying if jumping had a much bigger effect on accuracy. Hitboxes also seem to shrink on people who are jumping”. Another player, Rafahil, added: “Honestly it feels like they are abusing a trick or something that gives them more momentum in their jumps. There is a similar thing with sliding where I sometimes slide much faster and further and other times really short and slow”.
ApolloTheEarthling stated: “Honestly I do not get the fun in jumping around like a jack rabbit while shooting. People that do that are acting like their life depends on the game”. Another fa, CremeNed, agreed: “Older CoDs never had people spamming it, or jumping 15 feet around a corner. Still waiting for a game to have that proper old school CoD feeling”.
Mark Rubin, the Executive Producer of XDefiant weighed in on the issue. An X user, xV3N0M asked him: “Everyone jumping like a bunny.. Can you nerf that please?”. He replied: “I don’t know why but when I read this I felt like that Photoshop expert that “fixes” photos at people’s request. Like “Can you remove the graffiti behind me?” and then he photoshops himself scrubbing the wall behind them. So I should make everyone look more like a bunny”. So the players might get a bunny bundle?
Impending End of the Bunny-Hopping
All jokes aside, Ubisoft has reportedly been working on this problem for a while. One of the developers, PATTYP, took to X to explain what was going on. He said: “We do intend to penalize players for too many repeated jumps & crouches by adding aim sway. This was disabled after our tests while we made some needed improvements and unfortunately did not make it in time for launch. But rest assured we will get this in as soon as possible. We absolutely want players to use all mechanics in our game and not feel restricted – but there’s a sweet spot between intended use and spam and we want to get that right”.
It seems that the developers have really thought through the entire process. We have to admit that being killed by a bunny-hopper is hilarious, still, we won’t miss it once it’s gone. Until then, try not to quit the game over this issue, and try to laugh when you see someone abusing this tactic. After all, as long as you can find some fun in the game, it’s worth your while.
