Minecraft Legends is going in a new direction for the Minecraft franchise, featuring a more structured narrative and gameplay loop. Players will be traveling the world, freeing villagers, building an army, and taking back the Overworld from those that wish it harm. But who in this game are the villains causing all this trouble?

Players will see many familiar faces in this game, from villagers to creepers, to denizens of the Nether, but one group, in particular, is threatening the everyday life of the Overworld dwellers. Who Are the Bad Guys in Minecraft Legends?

The primary enemies of Minecraft Legends are the Piglins. Minecraft players will recognize them as residents of the Nether, unable to travel to the Overworld without turning into Zombie Pigmen. The piggy-faced humanoids wander the Nether, sometimes living in Bastions, taking part in their own version of society. They are not always aggressive in Minecraft, and can even be interacted with and traded with by players willing to offer gold. However, it seems the Piglins of Minecraft and Minecraft Legends are not one and the same.

What are Piglins in Minecraft Legends?

The Piglins in Minecraft Legends are a race of aggressive pig humanoids who live in the Nether. They have many notable differences from the Piglins of old. They have no trouble traversing the Overworld. They are incredibly aggressive, fighting and looting just for the sake of it. The Piglins seem bent on taking over villages and holding the villagers captive. Rather than a passive Nether society, these foes seem to be an organized invading force. They seem much more intelligent than their brethren as well. Players will definitely have their hands full trying to fight these chaotic foes.

Why Is the Nether Taking Over the Overworld in Minecraft Legends?

We aren’t sure exactly why the Piglins are invading Minecraft Legends. Trailers show the Piglin leaders plotting to take over the Overworld, but the reasons for their invasion are vague. However, there are characters out there who can give us answers. When players start their game, they’ll be greeted by three Hosts, Foresight, Knowledge, and Action. These characters will guide players on their journey, and will almost certainly give players insight into the reasons behind the Piglin’s rampage.
