Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is an ever-evolving game, with patches being the main source of the game’s evolution. Smaller patches are released to fix bugs constantly, while bigger patches every month or so add game modes, maps, and gun balancing changes.
Season 3 recently dropped, bringing in a large patch with new game modes, maps, and tons of weapon rebalances. Patches like these change the meta of the game drastically, meaning paying attention to their release can go a long way in preparing players for success. The developers don’t always give players much advance notice on patches, but by looking at the patch release history, players can get a good idea of when the next patch may go live.
When Will the Next Patch for MW2 Release?
We don’t know when the next MW2 patch is, but chances are the next large one will go live in Mid-May.
Small patches that contain fixes for bugs and the like usually happen weekly on Wednesdays at 10am PST. These patches don’t dramatically impact the game, so players don’t need to pay too much attention to them.
New seasons in MW2 generally introduce a large patch at its start, and another in the middle of the season. Knowing the Season 3 start date of April 12 and the end date of June 13, we can assume that the mid-season update will come around May 13.

One of the features many players hope will be included in the mid-season patch is ranked queues for Warzone 2. The developers have announced that it will arrive sometime during Season 3, but haven’t stated an exact date, making the mid-season patch a likely candidate.
