In a surprising and unexpected twist of events, a criminally underrated game came out on top. Even more surprising is the fact that Hades 2 is still in early access, so Steam Deck users really must have loved it. So, what caused this sudden rise in the numbers?

Hades 2 Received an Amazing Update

As you know, early access to Hades 2 has been out since May 2024. Ever since then, the game has been widely praised and received lots of love from the player base. However, it didn’t gain a lot of momentum, until now that is.

At the time of writing this article, Hades 2 is occupying the third place on the list of the most played games of the last week (October 16 – October 22). Compared to the previous week, it easily moved up 44 spots. It even surpassed the previous winner, Diablo IV (which dropped down four places and is now ranked 5).

Well, on October 16, Hades 2 received a major update, deemed the Olympic Update. This amazing update just confirmed what the players had already known. The game will have a very bright future.

Should You Get This Game on Steam Deck?

Well, the news of success might be surprising to those who still haven’t tried the game. However, Hades 2 players already know how enjoyable it was playing it on Steam Deck. Many players admitted to buying this device solely to play Hades 2.

One player, fly19, noted: “It’s part of why I picked up a Steam Deck, for sure. It’s great for doing a few rooms on your break or knocking out a run on the commute, and it looks really nice on the OLED screen”.

Another player, thenewgayguy, confessed: “I bought the Steam Deck solely for Hades 2. And, it was the best gaming decision I’ve made to date”. Several dozen players agreed with this.

As for those Steam Deckusers who still haven’t tried Hades 2, laxmotive had some encouraging words. This player said: “It’s honestly in a really good state already. Lots of content and it’s already super polished and tight. Most of what Super Giant is doing with early access is adding content and tweaking things for the final release. If you liked the first one you will not regret getting this one in early access”.

So, if you haven’t tried it yet, go for it. The full release won’t drop for a while, so it makes as much sense waiting for it as it does waiting for Steam Deck 2. We hope you’ll enjoy the game, and tell Frinos we said hello.
