Whalen Rozelle, the COO of Esports at Riot Games, shed light on China’s role in the Valorant Champions Tour during the Valorant launch event held on June 28. While specifics remain under wraps, buzz suggests this could correlate with the rumoured launch of a Valorant league in China.
In acknowledgement of the game’s burgeoning success in the region, Leo Faria, the Global Head of Valorant Esports, expressed, “To show our appreciation and to celebrate the one-year anniversary of Valorant in China next year, we’re very excited to bring Masters to Shanghai, 2024 will be a special year for the VCT, and we’re happy to have all of you be part of it with us.”
As per Riot’s statement, the VCT Masters Shanghai is “the second international event of the 2024 Valorant Champions Tour.” However, the curtain on the season’s inaugural event details must still be lifted.
The Masters Shanghai event follows closely on the heels of Masters Tokyo, a pioneering international Valorant event in the Asia-Pacific region.
