So, let’s see what are Encrypted Vaults, how to find them, and how to unlock them.

What is the Encrypted Vault in The First Descendant?

In The First Descendant, Encrypted Vaults are hidden chests players can find while exploring the world map. Locating and opening these Vaults requires a bit of time and resources, in addition to a mini-game that needs to be solved. However, Encrypted Vaults reward players with various materials, including Negative Ion Particles which are all essential for crafting powerful items. Moreover, unlocking the Encrypted Vaults is needed to finish some missions and open new ones.

How to Find Encrypted Vaults in The First Descendant

Encrypted Vaults are scattered across the maps, and the first clue to finding them is a light blue holographic square. To find the vaults, players have to stand next to these squares and use their scanning devices. Press the corresponding key to activate the scanning device (Tab on PC or R3 on PlayStation) and look around, listening for a chime sound. Once the sound is located, continue in its direction, using the scan again, until it leads you to the Vault. Keep in mind that The First Descendant uses a lot of verticality in its gameplay, meaning that Vaults can be located on different levels.

How to Open Encrypted Vault in The First Descendant

Once located, a specific Code Analyzer item is required to open the Encrypted Vault. Code Analyzers can be found as loot items during missions. Additionally, defeated enemies may drop some of them as well. These items come in two forms: Regular Code Analyzer and Precision Code Analyzer. When the right Code Analyzer is used on a Vault, players must solve a mini-game to open it. These are standard quick-time event games, but failing to finish them will result in a lost Code Analyzer. This means that players will need a new one to try again, so try not to waste your opportunity.
