The First Descendant What is Weapon Proficiency

The First Descendant weapons workshop

There are many progression systems in The First Descendant, which are not fully explained and Weapon Proficiency is among them. While playing the game players will earn all sorts of experience points, some can be exchanged for Mastery Rank while others go towards other goals, like Battle Pass and so on. Read on and we will explain what is exactly Weapon Proficiency, how it is earned and what can players do with it in The First Descendant.

What is Weapon Proficiency in The First Descendant?

Weapon Proficiency tracks the amount of experience players have earned with a selected weapon in the game. Once enough experience is accumulated the Weapon Proficiency will increase in level, giving a Descendant more effectiveness with the weapon.

Every gun in The First Descendant has a Weapon Proficiency rating from 0 to 40. The more proficiency players have with a weapon the more high-level modules they can equip on the gun. Additionally, more modules lead to better and more effective weapons, which is always nice. Moreover, more Mods options will give players greater freedom in customizing their favorite weapons to better suit their game style.

Once Weapon Proficiency reaches Level 40 on any weapon, players will get the option to equip Crystallization Catalyst on it. This is sort of a prestige system that will open a new module symbol and restart the Weapon Proficiency level. However, this module symbol can be applied on any mod slot and will allow players to equip the selected module’s capacity with half of its cost. This makes equipping end-game modules on weapons easier and makes Crystallization Catalyst the most important part of late-game crafting.

How to Increase Weapon Proficiency in The First Descendant?

As with Mastery Rank, there is only one way for players to increase Weapon Proficiency in the game, and it’s quite easy. All players have to do is equip the weapon they want to increase their proficiency on and use it. Playing the missions, killing enemies, and engaging in Void Intercept battles will all give experience to the equipped weapon. This means that the more players use a specific weapon the more proficiency they will get with it.
