Tamer is one of the most popular firearms in The First Descendant, and it’s not even an Ultimate Weapon. Capable of dishing out terrible amounts of damage (especially in Gley’s hands), it is a fan-favorite choice for dealing with Colossi. It’s relatively easy to come by, so keep reading to see how to get your hands on Tamer in The First Descendant, and what is the best build for it.
How to Get Tamer
Tamer is a Rare weapon, which means you can get it like any other drop, with a bit of luck. But, if you do not want to rely on a small chance, there are a couple of Missions that have a pretty high drop rate for the Tamer.
- Abandoned Reconstruction Site (Battlefield Mission), located in The Remnant zone of Agna Desert – 50% chance to drop upon completion
- Order’s Occupied Facility (Normal Mission), located in the Observatory zone of White-night Gulch – 50% chance to drop upon completion
Completing any of these Missions has a chance to reward you with the Tamer. Pick the one you can complete the fastest and repeat until you get this powerful Machine Gun. Veteran players suggest that you farm Tamers until you have one for each elemental (Toxic, Chill, Fire, Electric) damage type, so you can have a weapon for each Colossus (without having to resort to rerolls and waste resources that way).
Best Build for Tamer in The First Descendant – Best Weapon Modules
When you have managed to get your hands on a Tamer (or several Tamers), there are a couple of Mods that will make this weapon shine. Since this is a pretty straightforward weapon, the best build revolves around buffing up firearm ATK and Critical Hits. Furthermore, some Magazine expansion Modules can work wonders here, so you can keep that fire for as long as possible before reloading.
The best Modules for Tamer in The First Descendant are:
Weapon Module | Socket | Description |
Rifling Reinforcement | Malachite | Increases weapon’s ATK |
Better Concentration | Almandine | Increases weapon’s Critical Hit Damage |
Better Insight | Almandine | Increases weapon’s Critical Hit Rate |
Fire Rate Concentration | Xantic | Increases weapon’s Fire Rate and Critical Hit Damage |
Insight Focus | Almandine | Increases weapon’s Critical Hit Rate and Critical Hit Damage |
Action and Reaction | Malachite | Increases both the weapon’s Firearm ATK and Recoil |
Expanded Weapon Charge | Cerulean | Increases weapon’s magazine size |
Besides Gley, the Tamer is a great option for characters that prefer to shoot from a medium distance and do not rely on some special Ultimate weapons to make the most of their build, like Jayber, Enzo, or Ajax. Having a Tamer or two in your squad during Void Battles is more than recommended on higher levels.
