The long-anticipated major update for The First Descendant is finally here. It brought some big changes (especially Luna and Ultimate Valby), fixed a bunch of errors, and even managed to spark a minor controversy. But, on top of it all, we got the first batch of summer-themed skins and the fans are crazy about them.
Three Summer Skins Are Now Available In the Shop
Player requests have been heard and Nexon added some Summer-themed skins to The First Descendant. If you visit the in-game shop, in the Event Skin section, you will see an option to purchase these new skins.
In this update, we got a swimsuit variant for Valby and Viessa, and a summer-themed, Hawaiian-shirt-wearing variant for all male Descendants. For the ladies, each bundle costs 750 Caliber and features a new hairdo and a swimsuit skin. As for the gentlemen, they have the same outfit for every Descendant (you have to get a separate one for each of them). It costs 375 Calbier and features only the skin itself, representing the chosen male Descendant in an orange Hawaiian shirt and swim trunks. The heads are bare, with a pair of sunglasses. The guys got an all-in-one deal, while the girls can combine the swimsuit with any hairstyle you have unlocked.
Fans Are Crazy About the Girls’ Swimsuits
As you’d expect, the fans went wild for these skins. Comments like: “This game is going to break so many peoples banks” and “Sigh, there goes my money”. A lot of players ask why didn’t Bunny get a summer skin first, but one Redditor, named ChaosEvaUnit, promptly explained: “She’ll come along eventually. Bunny was obviously the marketing poster child of release version TFD and got the lion’s share of launch cosmetics to support that.”
Valby recently rose to stardom, arguably replacing Bunny as the fan-favorite Descendant, especially now with the Ultimate Valby release. Giving the fans a summer-variant Valby is a prudent move by the devs, to capitalize on her popularity. Viessa is one of the first Descendants that you can play with, so it’s expected for the devs to give her some love
And a Bit Disappointed about the Guys’
As for the male variants, the reactions are mixed at best. While having a Hawaiian shirt is cool, having the same outfit for every male Descendant kinda looks like it was rushed. “Kinda sad the dudes all get the same looking skin while the women have more variety.” said one Redditor, with another posting: “Not only the clothes but Everyone’s body shape also looks exactly the same…I understand female’s skin definitely sell way more than male’s. But I really feel very disappointed that they offer such plain skins for males at a relatively high price.”
This is just the first batch of summer-themed Skins, and more are surely on the way. It would be great if the guys got some more love during the event.
