The First Descendant is off to a Rough Start Due to FPS Issues

After a couple of betas, The First Descendant was officially released on July 2. The players were super excited to finally try out this free-to-play RPG as soon as it dropped. Unfortunately, as often happens to many new games, The First Descendant experienced some FPS drop issues which might have soured the experience for some players.

FPS Drop Issues Can Ruin a Game

The developers reacted quickly and issued a statement via X. It read: “We have received reports from some Descendants, who pre-downloaded the game, are experiencing frame drops. We are currently investigating this issue. In the meantime, if you encounter this problem, please delete and reinstall the game as a temporary solution”.

The players experienced different levels of success while trying to fix this issue. Remarkable_Ring3613 noted: “I can confirm reinstalling works. I have had no stutter issues afterward. That pre-patch must have been wonky”. Denaviro added: “I was so confused and infuriated when I couldn’t even get 80 FPS on 1080p medium settings, whilst I could get 144Hz on High settings in other AAA games”.

Well, some players weren’t as lucky. FenixGear shared: “This did nothing for me on PS5. Performance and resolution scaling are still abysmal in larger areas”. Zeroth1989 experienced some severe issues. They said: “I didn’t pre-download and I’m having major issues. Opening the inventory and leaving it for a few minutes resolves my FPS issues until the next mission-complete or loading screen”.

The First Descendant Devs Offer a Compensation for Players’ Troubles

On a positive note, while the developers are trying to fix this issue for everyone, they acknowledged the inconvenience that some players experienced. In another post on X, they stated: “We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused during the opening day. As a token of our apology, we have prepared compensation for you. We will continue to strive to provide a more stable service”.

The developers added the details. The compensation includes three days of Gold Gain Boost +30%, Kyper Shard Gain Boost +30%, Descendant EXP Gain Boost +30%, and Weapon Mastery EXP Gain Boost +30%. Aside from that, the players received 2 x Matte Red Paints.

Fervor Gaming expressed gratitude: “Hey, you guys fixed it within a reasonable time and honestly the launch has been pretty good, all things considered. I’m having a blast, and thanks for everything”. Tucker Gaming joined in: “Y’all keep doing the best job at keeping us informed with everything going on and I would take today as a win with servers holding up with the amount of traffic y’all were seeing today”.

We’re rooting for The First Descendant developers to overcome the FPS issues because we truly enjoy this game. In our opinion, the gesture of acknowledging the issue and gifting the players for being patient was perfect. It showed that the developers actually cared about the players’ opinions, which isn’t very common in the gaming industry. We can’t wait to see what they have in store for the future, until then, we are going to enjoy trying out all the best weapons and checking out as many characters as possible.
