Pyromaniac is one of the toughest Void Intercept battles to beat in The First Descendant, and it brings a big spike in difficulty compared with other Colossi battles. Bringing this Colossi down will take a lot of commitment, and because of its concentrated attacks, team play is encouraged. So continue reading and our guide will explain how best to prepare and what to do to beat the Pyromaniac Colossus.
How to Beat Pyromaniac in The First Descendant
The one thing that makes Pyromaniac stand out from the previous Boss battles is its immunity to weapon damage. Moreover, this Colossi’s main element is Fire, which makes this element useless against it. Using Mods like Heat Antibody will be very useful in keeping the player’s Descendant alive in this fight.
On the other hand, Pyromaniac is vulnerable to Chill, and it has the usual resistance to Toxin. This makes two of the Descendants, Viessa and Freyna, especially good picks for this fight. Valby is also a great choice for the squad, to bring down that Chill resistance even lower. Additionally, Pyromaniac has a Weak Point Type Pierce, so dealing pierce damage can help out during this Void Battle.
Pyromaniac’s Weak Points
- Destructible Parts – Balancer, Core Cover, Sensor
- Removable Parts – Core, Shoulder
Pyromaniac has the classic Colossus weak spots on the shoulders, knees, and chest core. Once shoulder and knee armor are destroyed, the Colossi will drop into the stunned position, which you can exploit to apply additional damage. However, what separates Pyromaniac from other bosses in the game is his enraged state.
Throughout the battle, the Pyromaniac will enter an enraged state, during which it becomes immune to all damage. However, it will grow a small tube on its back, which players can destroy to break the enraged state. This is most easily done if players are positioned at an elevation higher than the Pyromaniac. So make sure to move to higher ground once the Pyromaniac becomes enraged.
Pyromaniac’s Attacks
Most of Pyromaniac’s attacks do a great deal of damage and also apply additional burn damage. Once targeted by the attacks, the best chance a player has of surviving is to run and hide behind cover. Pyromaniac utilizes a variety of attacks, from a flamethrower that will consistently deal damage to a single target, to orbs that split and follow the player.
Along with single-target attacks, Pyromaniac also uses AoE attacks and spawns drones, which can stun players that get close to them. Luckily, once destroyed, these drones drop ammo, which will be much needed in this battle. However, Pyromaniac’s most frustrating move is when a screen goes white and all players are teleported to the center of the arena. They now have a short time to run before Pyromaniac falls, dealing a lot of damage in a large AoE. Essentially, once the Pyromaniac attacks, players can only run and try to hide to avoid the worst damage.
