The First Descendant Best Esiemo Build

Esiemo is the explosives master of the game, which means he is great at dealing AoE damage. Furthermore, all the explosives he tosses around work surprisingly well against Colossi, due to their size. It is safe to say that Esiemo is a character that deals “burst damage”. So, to make the most out of it, we need a good build, so keep reading to see the best build for Esiemo in The First Descendant.

Esiemo Skills

  • Adventitious Habit (Passive) – Drops a bomb on the ground when the shield is completely depleted.
  • Time Bomb – Launches a Sticky Bomb forward. The Sticky Bomb attaches to an enemy or terrain feature on contact.
  • Blast – Instantly detonates attached bombs. Bomb damage increases with the number of attached bombs.
  • Guided Landmine – Places a Guided Landmine at current location. Once placed, the Guided Landmine will fly to an enemy within its detection range and attach to it.
  • Arche Explosion – Starts moving forward fast. On collision with an enemy while charging, inflicts Knockback. When the movement ends, deals damage to nearby enemies and removes buffs from them. After the skill ends, Esiemo enters Madness state.

Best Esiemo Build

Esiemo uses his grenades to deal most of his damage, so buffing up those Skills should be a priority. But, since he’s more of a “pre-stack-damage” type, some good weapons are needed to round off the build (and to do something between tossing those grenades). Lastly, since you’ll probably have to get closer to rack up all those explosives, some DEF bonuses will be more than useful. So, this build focuses on increasing the damage and range of Esiemo’s Skills, and some defensive bonuses. Let’s see what are the best items for each equipment category: Weapon (and Weapon Modules), Descendant Modules, Reactor, and External Components.

Best Weapon for Esiemo in The First Descendant

Esiemo deals burst damage, so we will need a gun that can work with that. We have found that the best weapon for Esiemo is the Enduring Legacy Machine Gun. One of the effects it applies to enemies hit is that it reduces their Fire Resistance, making them more susceptible to Esiemo’s Skills. So between tossing those Time Bombs, be sure to reduce the target’s Fire Resistance before blowing everything up. This is especially effective against the Dead Bride Colossus since she’s already vulnerable to Fire.

Another great long-distance weapon for Esiemo is the Sigvore’s Proof Launcher. This powerful gun shoots its own sticky bombs, that when explode apply a Burn effect to the target. Combine that with Enduring Legacy, which is buffed up when shooting Burning targets, and you’ll have a great combo. Unfortunately, this weapon is only available via Premium Battle Pass.

Weapon Modules

Esiemo’s weapons are there to provide additional damage between his bomb throws, and while everything is on Cooldown. So we’d need Modules that allow him to deal as much damage as fast as possible, and to apply his weapon’s debuff as much as possible before those bombs explode. And some additional Fire damage will come in handy. So, the best Weapon Modules for Esiemo are:

Weapon ModuleEffect
Fire EnhancementAdds Fire ATK
Fire Rate UpImproves weapon’s Fire Rate
Rifling ReinforcementImproves weapon’s ATK
Concentrate Support AmmoIncreases weapon’s Critical Hit Damage and Magazine capacity
Concentration PriorityIncreases weapon’s Reload speed and Critical Hit Damage

Descendant Modules

Esiemo uses Fire Skills, so naturally, we need Modules that improve those. Besides boosting Skill Power and Range, we should take some defensive Modules, to increase survivability. After all, Sticky Bombs are not that effective if there is no one to detonate them.

The best Descendant Modules for Esiemo are:

Descendant ModuleEffect
Cluster BombDetonating an attached bomb creates additional explosives at the detonated location
Increased HPIncreases Max HP
Increased DEFIncreases DEF
Fire SpecialistIncreases Fire Skill Power
Focus on FIreIncreases Fire Skill Power;
Reduces Skill Cooldown
Skill ExpansionIncreases Skill Effect Range
Skill Range MasteryIncreases Skill Range
Technique ManualSkills can deal a percentage of your Max HP as damage

Reactor

Reactors are there to buff up the Skills, especially if they correspond with the Skill’s type and subtype. Since Esiemo uses his Skills a lot, a good Reactor is mandatory. Esiemo’s Skills all have the Fire type, so a Reactor with “Burning” in its title is what you need.

For subtypes, his Skills are either Fusion (Blast and Arche Explosion) or Tech (Time Bomb and Guided Landmine) subtypes. Mixture Reactors boost Fusion Skills, and Mechanics Reactors boost Tech Skills.

So, the best Reactor for Esiemo is the Burning Mixture Reactor or the Burning Mechanics Reactor, depending on which Skills you prefer.

External Components

External Components provide additional defensive buffs, and since Esiemo needs to get up close to unleash everything he’s got, these buffs will come in handy. Components are all randomly generated, so just a bit of luck is required to get the best of those.

In conclusion, the best External Components for Esiemo are those that improve Max Shields, HP Recovery, Max HP, and DEF.

Fire Arche Descendants are great for AoE, but Esiemo is also able to deal some single-target damage, better than Lepic or Blair. Get an Ajax to protect him, or Yujin to keep you going, and you’ll be blasting Vulgus to smithereens without much trouble.
