With the drop of the Stellar Blade demo on PS5, PC gamers are wondering if they’ll have a chance to get in on the action. Here’s what we know so far when it comes to the game’s release and a potential expansion to PC.
Stellar Blade is an upcoming action-adventure title from Sony and Shift Up, set to launch in full on April 26. Taking place in a post-apocalyptic world, the game features a mix of gritty, brutalist visuals and futuristic imagery experienced from a third-person player perspective. Ahead of the game’s launch, you can dive into the playable demo now on PS5 to get in on the action yourself. But will PC players have a chance to test drive Stellar Blade before its release this month? Let’s go over what we know about the game’s launch details so far.
- Pre-order incentive items: Early unlock of Planet Diving Suit for EVE, early unlock of Classic Round Glasses for EVE, early unlock of Ear Armor Earrings for EVE.
- Stunning PS5 visuals: Explore vibrant futuristic environments, and engage with a cast of original friends and foes from the creative minds of the SHIFT UP team, led by renowned artist Kim Hyung Tae.
- Ultra high-speed SSD: Explore new locations, overcome powerful enemies, and encounter jaw-dropping revelations as you advance relentlessly through EVE’s mission with lightning-fast load times.
- Adaptive triggers: Unleash devastating yet graceful acrobatic moves, and interact with the technological remnants of an abandoned Earth using the DualSense wireless controller’s adaptive triggers.
- Haptic feedback: Feel the thrill of combat as your blade slashes its way to victory, with sensations enriched by the DualSense wireless controller’s responsive vibrations.
Will Stellar Blade Come to PC?
Prior to Stellar Blade’s full release on PS5 later this month, there’s no word yet on a PC launch. At the moment, the game’s demo is available exclusively on PS5 consoles, which doesn’t necessarily come as a surprise considering Sony played a hand in the Stellar Blade’s development.
With that being said, a PC release isn’t entirely out of the question. While successful Sony titles like this year’s Helldivers 2 received a joint release on PS5 and PC, it’s not uncommon for the legacy publisher to launch its games exclusively on console and later expand to PC and other platforms.
What’s more, it’s worth noting that PC optimization wouldn’t pose an insurmountable challenge. Developer Shift’s Up’s director, Hyung Tae Kim, has promised smooth, combat-rich gameplay at 60 FPS on PS5, a feat easily accomplished with an adequate PC setup. If Sony does opt to move forward with an expanded release for Stellar Blade, there’s no doubt PC players will be eager to play.
