Where Is the Bookseller in Stardew Valley?
With the drop of the 1.6 update, you can now visit the bookseller on select days in Stardew Valley. With this in mind, you should first double-check your calendar to make sure the vendor’s shop is open for business. This is denoted by a small blue hot air balloon icon on your calendar, though you can also look to the bottom-left corner of your screen for a notification of the bookseller’s arrival.
If the bookseller is in town, then you’ll find the vendor’s booth set up in the northeast. To get there, head north from the museum and JojaMart, then take the stairway straight up. This will take you directly to the shop. However, this area is not accessible while the vendor is out of town.
Who Is the Bookseller in Stardew Valley?
The bookseller is a new NPC brought to Stardew Valley with the massive 1.6 update. Shop wares change each time the vendor visits town, so you’ll want to check what’s on offer while you can. Regular customers won’t easily lose track of the books they own, either, thanks to the handy thumbs up icon that indicates you’ve already purchased a specific book. However, this doesn’t apply to skill books, which can be reread to gain EXP. This works for maxed skills, too, in which case you’ll gain mastery points instead.
While the bookseller is in town, you can either purchase books or trade in texts that you already own. Prices range from a few thousand Gold up to 25,000 — a large sum, indeed. With that being said, you’ll gain access to skills and perks with your purchase, which is arguably worth it.
On the other hand, you can trade books by exchanging items. These items vary depending on the situation, but some examples include valuable books, rare or uncommon items, cooked dishes, and materials like bait or wood.
