You can get the Rebreather in Sons Of The Forest from a Cave that is on the north side of the map near a beach. Only one cave is on the beach, so it won’t be hard to spot it. It’s also one of the landing points of the game you’ll find yourself in at the beginning of the game.

The cave you’ll find the Rebreather in is one of the initial ones the game expects you to explore, so there are fewer mutants and cannibals in it than in other caves on the Island. Nevertheless, as you chop down cannibals and make your way through the cave, you should find a Rebreather beside a body of water with a shark swimming inside.

One way to escape is by killing the shark, diving underwater, and leaving the cave. However, if you think you can’t go head-to-head with a shark just yet, you can simply turn back and exit the cave from where you came in.
What Is The Rebreather For in Sons Of The Forest?
The Rebreather is an essential item to get your hands on in Sons Of The Forest since you won’t be able to progress in the story without it. The Rebreather and Rope Gun are used to explore a cave that allows you to get a Shovel.
The Shovel, in turn, is used to dig up some of the Points Of Interest (pulsating beeps and purple exclamation marks seen on the GPS), which get you further items to progress the game’s storyline.
