This is sad news for owners of other gaming platforms. These include Microsoft Xbox platforms like Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One, the Nintendo Switch, and even the PC. Moreover, due to the hardware specs needed to run the game, even the old-gen PS4 is excluded from the list of platforms that Rise of the Ronin will launch on.

What is Rise of the Ronin?

Taking place during the later years of the Bakumatsu era, Rise of the Ronin is an open-world action role-playing game developed by Team Ninja. Japan is facing its darkest times. The Shogunate and anti-Shogunate factions are involved in a bloody civil war that is ravaging the land. Furthermore, the Western influence is changing the way of life for the island nation. Meanwhile, the civil unrest is at an all-time high.

The players step into this world, taking on the role of the Ronin. As a masterless samurai, you will have to navigate through these troublesome times. In addition, your journey will take you across three major cities – Yokohama, Kyoto, and Edo. Besides that, you’ll visit the surrounding countryside and smaller villages, like Yamashita, the centre of foreign trade. All these places can be visited and explored on foot, using a grappling hook, glider, or on a horse.

Moreover, combat plays a big part in the gameplay, with different weapons and styles that can be learned and used. Katanas, naginata, and spears are usable alongside Boshin War-era firearms, along with an iconic six-shooter revolver, and even some early iterations of flamethrowers.
