Of all the Pals you’ll meet on your Palworld playthrough, Penking is arguably one of the best early to mid-game options on offer. Equipped with intimidating stats and work suitability for a long list of jobs that need doing at your base, this Water/Ice-type is a must-have Pal. The catch: There are just a few ways to obtain it, and none promise an easy capture. If you’re up to the challenge, here’s where to find and catch Penking in Palworld along with details about its stats and work suitability.

Where to Find Penking in Palworld

Unlike most species in Palworld, Penking is actually pretty tough to find. With that being said, there are still a couple of ways to find these Pals organically, though neither is definitively easy. First, you can challenge the Water/Ice-type Alpha inside its den, dubbed the Sealed Realm of the Frozen Wings in Windswept Hills. The dungeon’s exact coordinates are 119, -336.

While taking on bosses can be intimidating, the good news is Penking spawns at just Level 15, so you won’t need to make too much progress in the game just to catch one. Of course, you should be sure to go in with able Pals, ideally Electric-types. The bad news — only a few Pals of this element can be found early on, including Sparkit and Jolthog. Betwen the two, the latter is the better pick, since you can craft Jolthog’s Gloves to launch an electrical explosion at enemies.

Apart from this, you can find Penking in Wildlife Santuary No. 1. However, there’s one major downside to this route: Trespassing on Sanctuary grounds may result in earning a Wanted status. The only way to avoid this is to conduct your visit at night while guards are unable to catch you.

If you feel the risk may outweigh the reward here, then you might have better luck hatching Penking from a Large Damp Egg. At least, that’s what I did.

How to Catch Penking in Palworld

Depending on where you’ve found Penking in Palworld, there are several guidelines you should follow to catch it.

If you chose to take on the Alpha Penking in Windswept Hills, you’ll need to go to its den during the day. This is the simpler of the two routes, as you’ll just need to come prepared with solid Electric-types. As mentioned, Joltog is the best option at this point in the game, especially if you’ve crafted Joltog’s Gloves Whittle Penking’s health down with an electric surge, then toss some Mega Spheres to capture it.

Alternatively, catching Penking at Wildlife Sanctuary No. 1 is a bit trickier. To do this, you’ll need to head over to this area at night. Otherwise, guards will be alerted that criminal activity is taking place. At this point in the game, you should have access to stronger Electric Pals, too, like Mossanda Lux or Rayhound. Aim to get Penking’s health down low before throwing a Giga Sphere or two.
