Is Lords of the Fallen Multiplayer? Co Op and PvP

In a soulslike game such as Lords of the Fallen, renowned for being exceptionally difficult, having a multiplayer feature can be a blessing, especially when you are stuck on a boss. Considering the length of this newer version, Lords of the Fallen can be made much more enjoyable with your trusty friend at your side. That, or a random stranger with some not-so-good intentions down the line. Either way, multiplayer creates a dynamic environment for players, so let’s see if Lords of the Fallen supports it.

How Does Multiplayer Work in Lords of the Fallen?

Lords of the Fallen does support multiplayer. However, it is only co-op, meaning you’ll have one companion with you rather than an entire guild. That said, this is not something you should worry about, as even one friend can provide great help when you are traversing the dangerous areas of Umbral and Axiom.

This was definitely a much-needed feature and a big upgrade from the single-player 2014 version of Lords of the Fallen. Having multiplayer allows you to clear bosses swiftly as well as defeat enemies to level up your character. Not to mention that exploring the entire landscape alone can be dull at times, so a friend at your side can help reduce the loneliness.

That being said, it’s not always fun and games with companions, especially if you’ve invited a stranger into your world, as they could always try to backstab you and invade your world. Other than this, there’s also a two-life mechanic that allows players to respawn with their progress. This can only be done if the host of the realm can respawn with their progress intact first.

Anyhow, now that you know multiplayer is present and enhances your gameplay in several ways, let’s take a look at how you can activate this feature.

Lords of the Fallen Deluxe Edition – PlayStation 5
  • Explore A Vast, Interconnected World: Journey across two expansive, parallel worlds in your epic quest to overthrow Adyr. While the living realm presents its own brutal challenges, untold terrors lurk in the nightmarish realm of the dead. Encounter a wide array of characters, eager to offer a dubious hand…
  • Define Your Own Legend: Fully customise your character’s appearance from a wide array of visual options, before selecting one of nine character classes. Whichever starting path you take, develop your character to your own playstyle by upgrading stats, weapons, armour and spells.
  • Master Fast, Challenging Fluid Tactical Combat: Only those that master the deep, tactical combat can hope to survive. Choose from 100s of uniquely brutal weapons, or forgo metal for magic with devastating attacks of the arcane.
  • Unite or Fight in Online Multiplayer: Experience the expansive, single player campaign alone, or invite a second player to join your adventure in uninterrupted, online co-op. But be warned – heroes from other realms can, and will invade.
  • Wield a Device of Ungodly Power: Your lantern possesses the ungodly power to cross between worlds. Use this dark art to reach forgotten places, unearth fabled treasures, and even manipulate the very soul of your foe.

How to Invite Friends in Lords of the Fallen

So you’re looking to invite a companion to Lords of the Fallen. This is an incredibly simple process, especially considering past soulslike games like Elden Ring. To invite a friend in Lords of the Fallen, all you need to do is go to a Vestige anywhere in-game. When you approach them, they will present the option of inviting a particular character, or anyone is welcome to your world.

It’s a drop-in drop-out system, meaning when players accept the invite, they’ll simply pop into the host’s world next to them. This is important to know because both players can only play in the same realm, either Axiom or Umbral.

We’ve talked a lot about co-op play for multiplier, but there have also been mentions of another type of multiplier mode being released in the game.

Will Lords of the Fallen Have PvP?

While we don’t know the exact mechanics behind the PvP feature in Lord of the Fallen, it has been said that the game will feature a PvP mode. All we know is that players will be able to invade another player’s world, having one life to defeat them.

These acts will be called Invasions and can occur throughout the realm; however, there are PvP-designated areas for the action to take place. The invader will always spawn close to the Host for faster engagement, said Hexworks head of studio.

This is for those competitive gamers out there who want to try their might against the likes of other players, a crush-or-be-crushed situation. Even though we haven’t been told much about this mode, it simply existing within the game is hype enough for many players, already sharpening their swords to reign victorious over others.
