As we near the official release date for the highly anticipated Minecraft spin-off, Minecraft Legends, long-time players are eager to see how new in-game features will play out in the Overworld.
We’ve received a solid amount of information about these new features in a deep dive put together by the Minecraft team last month. However, much is still under wraps less than a month away from the game’s release.
This has left us all wondering whether we’ll see the return of Minecraft staples, like mining resources.
So, will you be able to mine in Minecraft Legends? Let’s cover what we know.
Can You Mine in Minecraft Legends?
According to the Minecraft Legends deep dive written by team member Cristina Anderca, you won’t be able to mine per se in the upcoming spin-off.
However, it was specified that your allay friends are always looking to lend a helping hand, and they will be more than happy to collect various resources for you.

What Kind of Resources Are in Minecraft Legends?
There’s still a lot that we don’t know when it comes to what kinds of resources will be available to us in Minecraft Legends, but it was made clear that we’ll be able to access and obtain resources in new ways.
Some of the ways you’ll be able to obtain resources in Minecraft Legends include:
- Ore veins throughout biomes in the Overworld.
- Defeating Piglins for Lapis, just one confirmed material in Minecraft Legends.
- Allay chests scattered about the Overworld.
To locate specific materials in the Overworld, you’ll always be able to check your map and find out what’s available in different biomes.
Hopefully, we’ll see the return of more familiar materials like Iron, Gold, and Diamond, in addition to resources that have yet to be introduced in Minecraft Legends.
