Fortnite’s history with Apple has been a bit complicated since the game’s initial release in 2017. The popular battle royale game was originally available on the App Store and made playable on MacOS and iOS.

However, it was removed from the App Store in 2020 due to a legal battle regarding payment methods with Fortnite’s developer and publisher, Epic Games.

In light of the seemingly rocky relationship between Apple and Epic Games, will we see the return of Fortnite to Apple’s platforms? The short answer is yes and no.

If you do not already have the game downloaded, cannot download and play the updated version of Fortnite on iOS.

However, the founder and CEO of Epic Games, Tim Sweeney, suggested in a 2022 Tweet that the game will return to iOS in 2023. For now, we are playing a waiting game for any indication that it will return sooner.

Epic also notes that Fortnite no longer supports Nvidia cards on Mac, and your Mac computer must support Metal API to run Fortnite.

While many complications remain, there is some hope that we will see the relationship between Epic Games and Apple smooth out with time.

Currently, Fortnite players can run the game’s latest season on their Mac computers and other devices.
