Wondering if DMZ mode is free in Call of Duty? Then you have come to the right place. DMZ puts a small team of players across a number of smaller Warzone maps, with the aim of going in and getting out with as much high value loot as possible.
But there’s a catch. You won’t be the only players looking for loot. There are a number of other teams who will often wait by the Exfil sites and pounce when you’re least expecting it. They’ll then rob you of your gear and you’ll leave the DMZ with nothing.
Having played the mode a lot recently, we can confirm it’s a lot of fun – and it’s certainly a change from the very intense MW2 multiplayer. But it’s not just style over substance, playing DMZ is also a fantastic way to earn XP quickly and earn rewards. But is the mode free? Here’s what you need to know.
Is DMZ free in Call of Duty: Warzone?
Yes, the mode is free to play as it is part of Warzone 2, not Modern Warfare 2. So, if you’re looking to get involved, you won’t need pick up Modern Warfare 2 and can simply download Call of Duty Warzone. Just make sure you have enough space. The mode is currently advertised in Beta form – but it is still playable and we have not experienced any major bugs during our playthroughs.
For those new to the mode, Season 3 brought a load of new features. These included tweaks to the batering mechanic. Across every Exclusion Zone, all Buy Stations, in addition to buying Gear and Weapons for Cash, will allow Bartering. Elsewhere, for a nominal Cash fee, Workbenches allows an Operator to add attachments they have unlocked for any weapon platform onto a piece of Contraband or Insured Weapon. These will come in handy if you run into the DMZ’s many bosses.
As per the official Call of Duty website, which confirmed more DMZ content is on the way: “Remember that missions are not the only thing to accomplish in DMZ. The new Bosses, as well as something completely [[REDACTED]] happening mid-season, are sure to give even more challenges and rewards to all Operators.”
