Although the classic Call of Duty games were thoroughly enjoyed casually, things have gotten a lot more competitive with the inclusion of skill-based matchmaking into recent titles. Even so, many players play the game in person with friends to have fun. This raises the question if the new Call of Duty, Modern Warfare 2, allows players to play split screen.

Fortunately, Modern Warfare 2 allows players to enjoy playing the game with Split Screen when on the same console. The only problem is that you won’t be able to play public matches; you can only play private multiplayer matches when going Split Screen. Furthermore, MW2 only allows two players to play together with Split Screen, unlike previous COD games that allowed up to four.

How To Play Modern Warfare 2 Split Screen On Console
To play Split Screen on Modern Warfare 2 on a console, follow these straightforward steps:
- Start Modern Warfare 2.
- Connect another controller and log in with the user (make sure this user has an Activision Account logged in for online Private Matches).
- Press X (Playstation) or A (Xbox) on the second controller to join the lobby and enable Split Screen.
Can You Play Modern Warfare 2 Split Screen On PC?
Unfortunately, PC players can’t play Split Screen on Modern Warfare 2 even if they have a second input device connected. Although this is just the current situation, it is hard to expect an upcoming Split Screen feature for Modern Warfare 2 on PC since it has been the same for previous Call of Duty games.
