Rocket League – How to Trade
Contrary to popular belief, Rocket League actually does have a trading feature; it is just a bit different from other games. Mainly, in order to trade items, the other person needs to be in your party – the trade can not be initiated otherwise. Here is a step-by-step breakdown of how the trading process works.
- Open Rocket League.
- Find a player who has an item you want and add them to your friend list.
- Invite that friend to your party.

Before proceeding, make sure you and the player you invited have allowed the Player-to-Player option from your settings otherwise you won’t be able to trade with each other.
- On the screen at the bottom, you will see your trade partner’s Game ID next to yours. Click on it.
- Upon clicking your partner’s ID, select the Invite to Trade option.
- A screen will appear for the trade. (similar to the Steam engine trading screen for CS:GO or Dota items) This screen will have your inventory on the left, where you can choose the items you want to offer for the trade. On the right, you will be able to see what you have offered and what your partner is offering.
- You and your partner can offer up to 12 items to trade, these can be from the following categories:
- All Items
- Crates
- Decals
- Wheels
- Rocket Boost
- Topper Antenna
- Player Banner
Note: you can trade almost anything except for money in Rocket League.
- You and your partner have the option to press the Accept button to proceed with the proposed item trade. The trade will only proceed if you both accept.
- Once the trade is done, you get 5 seconds to undo and cancel it if you slipped a button. Otherwise, you receive the items, and they go straight to your inventory.
