Dead Island 2 – How to Throw Weapons
To throw weapons in Dead Island 2 is very straightforward. When you have any weapon equipped, hold down RT on Xbox, R2 on PlayStation, right-click on PC, aim where you want the weapon to fly, and then let go of the button.
When you hold down the button to throw a weapon, an animation will play out of your character gearing up to throw the weapon. Along with that, your crosshair will change. When this happens, you know you’re ready to let loose.
However, the distance thrown depends on the type of weapon you are wielding. For example, if you throw a combat knife, you don’t have to aim that high, as the weapon is so light it’ll travel a reasonable distance. But if you are holding a two-handed sledgehammer, due to it being heavy, you have to aim higher for it to go the distance.

How To Throw Curveball Weapons in Dead Island 2
Curveballs Weapons are your special attack weapons in Dead Island 2 that will help you escape sticky situations. All Curveball weapons are thrown to activate. These come in various weapons, from Shurikens and Sticky Bombs to Chem Bomb.
To throw these, you only need to press R1 on PlayStation, RB on Xbox, and Q on PC. However, these weapons are on a cooldown timer, shown in the bottom left of the screen. When it is red, and a red circle appears around it, it’s on cooldown. When it’s blue, you’re fine to throw it!
What Weapons Can Be Thrown in Dead Island 2?
All melee weapons can be thrown in Dead Island 2. There is not a melee weapon that can’t be thrown like a rugby ball of death. Katana’s, Hammers, Crescent Blades, Claymore’s. You name it. It can be thrown at a zombie. There’s even a challenge called Impressive Aim, where you must throw a melee weapon and hit a zombie from 35+ meters away!
But you cannot throw any firearms. Holding down the button prompt while wielding a firearm will allow you to aim down the sights; that is all.
