Rocket League – How To Speed Flip
The Speed Flip is a unique skill that can boost your mobility, allowing you to get to the ball before your opponent, giving you the perfect advantage, especially in kickoffs. To get to that skill level, you need to master a few tricks before you get to the actual speed flip, particularly the Flip Cancel.
How To Flip Cancel in Rocket League
Performing a Flip in Rocket League is a relatively easy stunt to pull off. So to do a Speed Flip, you need to be able to cancel a Flip so that your boost keeps facing backward, propelling your car forward. You have to carry out these steps very rapidly:
- Press Jump (A on Xbox controller, X on PS controller, or Right Click if on PC).
- Press Jump again and the Forward Button (Move the analog stick up on the controller, or the W key if you’re on a keyboard).
- Quickly time and press the Backward Button (Move the analog stick down on your controller or the S key if you’re on a keyboard) to cancel the momentum and keep your boost facing backward.
After you master the Flip Cancel, it’s time to finally move on to the Speed Flip.

How To Do A Speed Flip In Rocket League
The Speed Flip utilizes the Flip mechanic paired up with the boost for extra air time and speed boost while also keeping the Car’s nose near the ground to land effectively. So we need to carry out all of these timely and in sync:

- Flip Cancel right after the first step by pushing the L stick on your controller in the opposite direction and slightly flicking it (flick left if you came bottom right/flick right if you came bottom left), so your car keeps facing forwards.
On the keyboard, you have to hold down the A+S (if you flipped left) or S+D (if you flipped right) to Flip Cancel. - Exactly right after you Flip Cancel, hold down Air Roll (▢ on PS or X on Xbox controller or LShift on keyboard) and Boost (O on PS or B on Xbox Controller or Left Click if on PC).

The Flip Cancel keeps your car from spinning in a Front Flip motion and would only flip horizontally, keeping the direction of the boost backward. The Boost would give the car enough time to get back on all four tires, and the Air Roll held down would enable a powerslide allowing your car to not slow down when landing.
Remember that this would require a lot of practice to perfectly time all of the actions and pull off a perfect Speed Flip.
