How To Save Your Progress In Sons Of The Forest

As Sons Of The Forest doesn’t have the auto-save feature, you lose all of your progress after quitting the game session unless you manually save the game. However, unlike most games, which allow for quick manual saves in the pause menu, this feature is part of Sons Of The Forest gameplay.

What Items Do You Need To Make Shelter in Sons Of The Forest?

To manually save your game, you need to build a shelter. Fortunately, you can do so early in the game by collecting the right resources.

The items needed to build the most basic shelter are as follows:

  • Tarp: You should find tarps among the cases scattered around where your helicopter crashed.
  • Stick: These can be found lying on the ground all around the map. If you aren’t able to locate them, simply chop up a few bushes, and they’ll fall right out.

Once you have the required items, here’s what you need to do:

  1. Lay the tarp down on a flat surface
  2. Stand near one of its edges.
  3. Place a stick on the tarp’s edge by pressing the left-clicking on your mouse to complete your shelter.
    • Doing so will allow you to save your game in that shelter.

Now, whenever you’re near your shelter, you can press the required hotkey to enable a save or sleep for the next couple of hours.

You have 10 slots for your save games, so you have plenty to spare.
