Overcooked 2 – How to Play Cross Platform
When you do get Overcooked All You Can Eat, playing cross platform with your friends is as easy as it gets. However, before you do, you and your friend or friends all need to have a Team17 ID, as that will be used to connect cross platform players with each other.
When you’re done with that, all you need to do is:
- First, have everyone launch the All You Can Eat game and reach the main menu.
- Then, one player is to press the button displayed on the top right of the screen next to manage teams (Y for Xbox, triangle for Playstation, and X for Nintendo Switch players) and then click on ‘host wireless’.
- This will essentially create a lobby that all the other players will join.
- Finally, go to manage teams again, but this time click on online play to bring up your friend list.
- To invite Team17 cross play friends, navigate to that subheading, where you’ll see all your Team 17 friends that are currently online.
- Simply click on the name of the friend you want to invite, then select invite in the pop up menu.
- As soon as everyone has joined the lobby/session, the host can search for whatever mode they want and everyone will be in it.
How much Support Does Cross Platform Play Have in Overcooked 2
The base version only has limited support for Steam and Epic players, who can play the game together without any issue, but console players can not play with players from other consoles or PC at all.
This doesn’t mean you can’t play Overcooked without cross platform play at all, however, as Overcooked All You Can Eat, which is essentially a compilation of all Overcooked 1 and Overcooked 2 levels along with extra content does support full cross platform play across all modern consoles and PC.
Therefore, if you want to play the Overcooked 2 missions with your friends from other consoles, then the only option you have is to purchase Overcooked All You Can Eat.
