Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 2 continues, and the weekly quests keep on rolling. Many are finding the weekly quests to be fairly easy to accomplish, but a current quest has some players stumped. Players must open a vault using a vault keycard, a three step process of acquiring a keycard, finding a vault, and opening it.
Some players were bound to be confused, as the vault keycard is a rare item, with only one way of obtaining it. For those who haven’t tried their hand at opening a vault this season, this guide will lay out everything one needs to know to get a vault open, so they can get this weekly quest completed.
Where To Find a Vault Keycard in Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 2
The vault keycard can be found as a drop from the boss Highcard.
Highcard spawns in three locations: Mega City, Brutal Bastion, and Shattered Slabs, as noted on the map below. He will not be present at the start of the round. Instead, players must wait for the second Storm Circle to form. He will rift into all three of these spawn points at that time.
Currently the only boss on the map, Highcard is an assault rifle-wielding mobster, flanked by two henchmen. If downed, his henchman can revive him, meaning it is advisable for players to target the henchman first. Other than this, he has no special abilities.
Players should focus on hitting headshots and keeping in cover if Highcard starts to focus the player too heavily. Once killed, Highcard will drop a vault keycard, as well as his Havoc Suppressed Assault Rifle.

All Vault Locations in Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 2
The vaults in Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 2 are all very close to Highcard’s spawn points. As shown on the map below, there are also located near Mega City, Brutal Bastion, and Shattered Slabs.

- Mega City – Underneath the streets at river level. Can be accessed from the northeast side.
- Brutal Bastion – Just off the north side courtyard corridor.
- Shattered Slabs – In a cave underneath a hill on the northwest side of the area.
How To Open a Vault in Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 2
Once a player has picked up a keycard, they simply need to interact with a keypad outside of the vault. If a player has the vault keycard in their inventory, a small lock icon will appear for the player on their screen. This lock marker will lead players straight to the keypad they need to interact with.
Players will need to be careful at this time. If a player is holding a keycard, their position will be shown on the minimap, meaning they will be a prime target for other players. It is advised to get in and get out as quickly as possible. Players will be rewarded with a number of rare chests, weapons, and items, once they open the vault.
