How to get Upgrade Modules in Destiny 2

Destiny 2 Titan in Root of Nightmares armor

You’ve finally found that perfect set of armor in Destiny 2. The stat distribution is just right and you might even be tipping the scales at two or three maxed stats. However, a new expansion or season rolls around and suddenly you need to infuse that piece of armor to keep your Power Level high enough to play current content.

This is where Upgrade Modules come into play. Here’s what they do and how to get them.

Where to find Upgrade Modules in Destiny 2

Upgrade Modules are a resource required to infuse one piece of gear into another, thus raising its Power Level. Ada-1 and Banshee-44 sell them in the Tower in a material exchange. Players can hand over one Enhancement Core, 10 Legendary Shards, and 5000 Glimmer for a single Upgrade Module. Additionally, Upgrade Modules may be acquired from the Season Pass and reach rank milestones with different vendors.

The trick to accruing a large amount of Upgrade Modules is to do the daily bounties from Banshee-44 every day on all three of your characters. That’s four per character and 12 total. These will always involve getting kills with a specific type of weapon. We recommend heading to the EDZ and running through any of the three Lost Sectors next to Devrim Kay to quickly knock the bounties out. That will net you 12 Enhancement Cores per day.

While you’re doing that, make sure to be running a Rainmaker if you have one. This consumable will occasionally make a shower of Glimmer on a precision kill. Finally, for Legendary Shards, simply play the game and dismantle any Legendary item you don’t need. It’s a slow, painful process if you’re just starting, but regular play will build a healthy stockpile.

It ultimately comes down to dedication and persistence to acquire Upgrade Modules. Again, it’s not the easiest thing for new players, and a new expansion like Lightfall will devour them as Guardians must raise their Power Level by a few hundred. However, if you keep at it, you’ll have plenty before you know it.
