What Could Reconcile the Bug and the Bot Divers in Helldivers 2?

The current Major Order will most likely fail, and the tension between the bot and the bug players is higher than ever. Recently, there’s been lots of talk about the ever-growing division of the community. Can the bug and the bot divers find common ground in Helldivers 2?

The Gap Between the Bug and the Bot Divers Has Never Been Bigger

Since the very start of the game, Joel has used Major Orders to unite players by offering them to cooperate for the common good. Lately, more MOs have taken place on the bot front, causing the bug divers to slowly, but steadily, stop participating and return to the bot front. This behavior left a bitter taste in bot divers’ mouths, as they found it disrespectful.

Unlucky-Gate8050 initiated the debate by asking for bot divers’ honest opinions. This player noted: “Bug-only divers – how would you feel if the bot/MO divers stopped helping you and you started failing/struggling with your MOs? Why not drop in for a trivial mission or two at least? I’m an MO diver, and I genuinely don’t get it. You’re missing out on a lot of the game by sticking to only one faction, too”.

PHDclapper stated: “Bugs are inherently more fun, they don’t shoot back, they don’t ragdoll. The only form of movement impairment is slow and that can be dodged very easily. It’s just way better and more fun to play. Not to dog on bots, but it’s just spammy garbage, I don’t like to play against spam”.

An appropriately named bug diver, Grouchy_Ad9315, added more fuel to the fire. They said: “First ask youself, why the f**k should we care about MO?  Second: why should bug players play in the mess that is the bot front? Why should players force themselves to go though this? Makes no sense”.

One self-professed bot diver, lXLegolasXl, shared an unpopular opinion. They noted: ” I don’t think bugs are played more because they are more fun, but because they are a lot easier to beat. To play bots you have to know so much more and your squad has to be good too”.

Helldivers 2 Players Suggest Fixes for the Major Orders

Obviously, the system of Major Orders could use a change. At the very beginning, all the players were trying to follow the MOs, but over time it became boring for some. Helldivers 2 players offered ideas on how to unite the bug and the bot divers again.

Severe-Active5724 explained why MOs weren’t worth the trouble. They said: “50 medals over 4 days isn’t something to fret about when dailies offer 15 and doing 1-3 missions on, at minimum difficulty 7, approximately 25 medals for the set. There’s not much holding you back from buying items… when a lot are trash. I play to have fun, regardless of the MO”.

A bot diver, Financial_Rooster_89, acknowledged the problems with the MOs. They stated: “I’m maxed out so getting MO or personal order means nothing. I’m still fighting bots but I’m sure there are others who just keep fighting bugs cause there’s no reason for them to fight bots”.

Several other players suggested that adding a third enemy faction, maybe the Illuminate, would be a great temporary solution. Both the bug and the bot divers would then migrate to fight a new Helldivers 2 enemy, and the tensions would die down, at least for a while.

Honestly, it’s hard to choose a side, we’re generally for one unified army that would spread democracy for Super Earth. At the same time, everyone should get to choose how they spend their time and who they enjoy fighting with. If it were any other way, the majority of players would experience burnout very soon and would have to go on a break, which would devastate the game even more. Hopefully, the upcoming update might balance the fronts a bit, so be patient and we’ll see you out there.
