Thousands of Helldivers 2 Players Would Love A Self-Destruct Function for Exosuits

Enough time has passed since the last major update and the players are starting to crave some fresh changes. One suggestion united thousands of players in a plea to developers. Helldivers 2 community insists that adding a self-destruct function to exosuits would have a huge impact on players’ strategies.

Exosuits Could Truly Use a New Function

As you probably know, there are only two exosuits in the game currently, the Exo-45 Patriot, and the Exo-49 Emancipator. Unfortunately, exosuits are big and clunky, sometimes hard to navigate, and oftentimes not worth the struggle. Therefore, they aren’t extremely popular among Helldivers and that is probably what motivated the players to suggest this change.

One player, lunlunqq001, noted: “Exosuits should have a “SELF DESTRUCT” function which overloads their core and turns them into hell bombs”. This suggestion simply blew up in the Helldivers 2 community. At the time of writing this article, more than 7,5k Helldivers supported this idea, and the number is still growing.

Now, this feature was reportedly meant to be in-game since the mechs were added. VividNightmare_ recalled: “They said they wanted to do this! It just didn’t make it into the game”. We suppose they probably tried, but couldn’t perfect it in time for the release of the first exosuit. Hopefully, they didn’t fully give up on the idea.

Helldivers 2 Players Are All for the Self-Destruct Function

What we always find fascinating about this community, is the dedication to the lore. As it turns out many Helldivers 2 players don’t really need the self-destruct function for their exosuits, although they really want it, as they destroy them once they finish using them. That way, the enemies wouldn’t be able to steal Super Earth’s technology.

Other-Barry-1 noted: “My friend always “scuttles” them when he’s finished with it so it doesn’t fall into enemy hands intact they can study it or use it. So perhaps they could add a stratagem hellbomb/500KG strike to launch when you abandon it”.

Another player, Crimsonial, added: “Hah! Not the only one, after a friend insisted on it, group tradition is to decommission mech equipment in the field once it’s spent, or before extracting. Appropriately dramatic measure that also lets you blow more stuff up with your team. Proceed to ritual chatter about we can’t have those bots/bugs getting their hands on superior Super Earth tech”.

Other players gave ideas on how exactly the self-destruction function would work. One player, cantshakeme8966, suggested: “That would be pretty sick if you are getting swarmed too bad or your mech is heavily damaged just self-destruct and take a bunch of enemies with you”. TheSmellofOxygen added: “I agree. Make them beep loudly and flash warning lights, and automatically eject the player so it can’t be abused too badly”.

Truth be told, we’d love it if the devs added this function. It could be quite helpful on the fronts. Speaking of, we’ll be on the bug front this whole week, the Major Order is in progress, and it’s time for the players to settle their differences. For Liberty and Super Earth.
