The recent addition of the P-11 Stim Pistol surprised many players. It took Helldivers some time to get used to it, but it finally seems like they have accepted it as a part of their arsenal. However, that was until some Helldivers 2 players noticed that Stim Pistols couldn’t shoot through shields.
Should Stim Pistols Shoot Through Shields?
Some players took to Reddit to complain about Stim shots not penetrating the shield pack. This caused quite a stir, as some players claimed it was a bug, while others insisted it was a feature.
Now, the objectively more rational side, players saying this was a feature, offered some solid arguments. LiquidInferno25 stated: “Not only does it make sense, but I feel like shield backpack is already strong enough so this should stay as a small bit of additional drawback”.
ItsDaFunkMonkey shared: “The shield is supposed to block all projectiles and works as intended. This makes sense and should not change. But the gun needs a different buff though. Changing it to hitscan would be a great start”.
Another player, AngryTreeFrog, suggested: “Wait are people complaining they can’t stim people through the shield .. the devs need to leave this in. The only change I’d like to see from the devs is to be able to toggle the shield on and off”.
Helldivers 2 Players Offer Solutions
The Helldivers 2 players claiming this was a bug explained that the sole purpose of the Stim Pistols was lost if it couldn’t penetrate the shields. As you know, dropping the shield isn’t exactly a good idea, so how can someone receive a Stim?
Well, this is where things became creative. Many players suggested just shooting the person you want to Stim, for as long as it takes for their shield to drop. Some-toast noted: “That’s why you carry 2 guns. Joking, but, maybe Stim throwing knife would be funnier? They’d have to give you 100 of them”.
There is an actual solution to this problem. Sh4rpSp00n explained: “Me and my friends discovered you can poke the Stim Pistol inside the shield and still shoot your buddies with it. It makes it even more awkward to use but if you’re mic’d up you can make it work”.
Honestly, we are on the “it’s a feature” side. Stims, as all projectiles, shouldn’t be able to penetrate the shield. We understand why that’s annoying, but can you maybe redirect your annoyance to helping your fellow divers on Gaellivare? We’ve heard that even some Chaosdivers are helping out, inadvertently, but still. For Super Earth and Liberty.
