Things are slowly getting back to normal in the Helldivers 2 community. The backlash over an unfortunate patch has died down, mostly thanks to the CCO and his commitment to making things right. The remaining Helldivers 2 players are back to theorizing and finding lore explanations for different aspects of the game, and this time, their target is the locations of SEAF Sites.
Why Are the Locations of SEAF Sites Unknown?
You’d think that Super Earth would have detailed files on all of the SEAF Sites, but somehow occasionally the Helldivers will get an unexpected call to a previously unknown location. This has gone unnoticed for quite a while, as players are usually too immersed in the game. Recent issues may have given some of them a reason to take a break. Once they returned, they saw the game through rested eyes and asked some highly logical questions.
ReverendBishopp noted: “Why do we not know EXACTLY where SEAF sites are? We have a Galactic Database on every single Super Destroyer. The Super Destroyers are in orbit above the planets we’re dropping into. They can scan and find the location of specific, individual heavy Terminids/Automatons, but somehow magically we don’t know where our own damn sites are? We should have all SEAF artillery, radar, and SAM sites pinpointed to the millimeter before we drop anywhere”.
One player, CptBickDalls, offered the most popular answers to this problem. They said: “From gameplay mechanic, to force exploration. From game lore, Super Earth has a build first ask questions later. Super Earth is the type of place that screams “We need more Artillery!” But doesn’t say where or when and definitely does not keep track”.
Helldivers Share Logical Explanations of This Mistery
Obviously, many Helldivers 2 players had their own solutions to why the locations of SEAF Sites were a mystery. Most of the players agreed that the locations should be known but certain Mission Modifiers could maybe obscure them.
One player, PurpleBatDragon, stated: “In my opinion, they should put them on the map by default. But, have a mission modifier on higher difficulties that obscures them. Maybe lump it in with the Jamming and Atmospheric Spores. Maybe the lore would be that their scanners are completely borked in that area and can’t actually pinpoint anything as intended from orbit”.
Greaterdivinity shared why these unknown SEAF Site locations were probably one of the most accurate details in Helldivers 2. This player explained: “If you’ve never been involved in a major, massive project with tens of thousands of moving parts…it’s hard to keep track of everything. Just look at the Pentagon in the US and how much money it can’t account for. That’s just one nation’s military on Earth, much less SUPER EARTH’s entire galactic forces”.
Honestly, if you put it in that perspective, it makes sense. Whether this detail was intentional or not, it is eerily realistic. So, the next time you get annoyed by a detail like this, remember that Super Earth is also run by people who sometimes overlook obvious details. That doesn’t mean you shouldn’t fight for Super Earth and Managed Democracy. See you out there, fellow Helldiver.
