In case it takes longer than that, you should just force-close the game and launch it again. The majority of players say that their mission rewards remained intact.
If the error persists, it may be a hardware issue. The community has offered this solution:
- Go to C:\Users\[User Name]\AppData\Roaming\Arrowhead\Helldivers2 (remember to have the “view hidden files” option enabled).
- Open the “user_settings.config” file via a text editor (like Notepad).
- Look for the “fullscreen” line and change it to “false”.
But, the most common solution is to wait it out. Helldivers 2 has regular updates and patches, and this issue will surely be addressed soon.

This error is most likely caused by server issues, due to the new updates. It happens mostly during peak times, when the servers are close to being full. The game has difficulties bringing you back to the lobby due to the server capacity, but thanks to the recent addition of AFK Timer, that issue is easily resolved.
