Let’s face it, we all know that the Illuminate are up to something. However, their plans are yet to be revealed. As always, some cautious Helldivers came up with a worst-case scenario. These Helldivers 2 players shared their interesting conspiracy theory on why the Illuminate were behaving the way they did.
A Conspiracy Theory Explains the Plans of the Illuminate
Many players expect the rest of the Illuminate units to come through the Meridia wormhole. As the Illuminate kept inching toward the wormhole during one of the previous MOs, there was no doubt that once they reached it, a Special Event would start and they’d take over “their” part of the Galactic Map.
However, the Squids never reached the wormhole. They came close, right to the edge of the bug front, but then they disappeared. Later on, they reappeared on the edge of the bot front. This proximity to both active fronts truly concerned some players.
One player, DanceClown, noted: “The Voteless are a prototype. The Illuminate are bouncing all around to collect the other factions for experiments. We are going to have Illuminate hybrid Chargers with shields and freaking laser beams for eyes”.
So, according to this theory, the Illuminate weren’t going toward the wormhole. They were actually going toward the bug front which they potentially infiltrated. After all, if the Squids created the Voteless from humans, why wouldn’t they be able to transform other life forms?
Helldivers Wonder If They Even Faced the Illuminate
Since this Illuminate conspiracy theory seems plausible, many Helldivers 2 players loved it. The idea of fighting two enemy factions never dwindled, and this theory only took it to the next level. If this theory turned out to be correct, Helldivers would be fighting two enemy factions in the form of one, which seems like an elegant solution to the problem of technical difficulties.
Of course, excited about this prospect, Helldivers gladly shared their elaborate ideas on the Illuminate’s plans. Rocknocking stated: “I personally think they’re turning humans into Squids and the Voteless are the masses of failed experiments while the overseers are the successful ones. I don’t think we’ve killed a single real Squid yet”.
Another player, Alvadar65, contributed: “I get the feeling that the Voteless are the Illuminate trying to experiment to see if they can essentially rebuild their race using Humans as a base. Given how few Overseers etc we see, and how badly we beat them in the First Galactic War they are probably having population problems. And, since we don’t know how they reproduce this is either how they do it, or they are using this as a way to bootstrap their population. The Voteless are basically just this process having failed”.
The idea of the Voteless being the failed experiment truly is blood-curdling. It only makes us want to liberate even more of them. So, will you join us? The Major Order is in progress, and we are currently fighting on Keid, so meet us there. For Liberty and Super Earth.
