It happened again! The latest Major Order put the players on Gaellivare and several Helldivers 2 players reported seeing blue beams in the sky. Could it be possible the Illuminate are near? Or is there another explanation for this phenomenon?
Helldivers Report Blue Beams Over Gaellivare
As you know, the current Major Order asked the players to choose and liberate a planet that would be a future site for the Democracy Space Station. Ever since the players chose Gaellivare, some players have started reporting unidentified blue beams.
One player, Sprucelord, recorded the sighting. This player explained how none of their teammates were using the PLAS-1 Scorcher. They added: “Plus both of my teammates were behind me. I looked at a ton of sightings from March and the projectile + explosion (muzzle flare?) seems to be consistent with what I saw today”.
Another player, lbow3, had a similar experience. A blue beam actually hit this player. We can’t imagine how confused they were at the moment. The interesting fact is that this player didn’t take any damage from being hit.
As you may have expected, the majority of Helldivers hope these were the Illuminate observing (and slightly interfering). With several leaks circling the internet, many players hope the Illuminate will make an appearance on Liberty Day, October 26. In case they do, the veterans are ready.
There Is Another Explanation for the Phenomenon
Unfortunately, eagle-eyed Helldivers 2 players noticed one common denominator in all sightings of the blue beams on Gaellivare. One player, defect776698, explained: “I am seeing one thing in common with all these blue laser hits. The mech. It always seems to happen when running around the mech’s feet. I think the mech danger radius is a little too big and the “laser” is a graphics glitch”.
Another player, deachem, added: “It’s a ricochet animation that gets triggered by some ground object collisions. It’s really common with mechs right now. It might also be happening with Scout Striders”.
TheSleepySkull offered a similar explanation. They stated: “This is actually a bug! When Helldivers are ‘crushed’ by the walker it produces that blue ricochet effect, you can see it happens to bugs you also crush. You can test it yourself by spawning a walker and walking on bugs”.
Well, even though these might have been ricochets, we still hope the infamous third enemy faction will join the Galactic War soon. After all, there is more than enough space on the Galactic Map for them. With all the recent changes, we’re sure the devs have some big plans for the future. So, join the fight, for Super Earth and Liberty.
