There is some awesome news concerning Fortnite and mobile phones. Until now, you could play Fortnite on Android via the Epic Games app and on Samsung via the Galaxy Store. Unfortunately, Fortnite has been removed for iPhone users back in 2020. But all of that is about to change. Epic and Apple came to an agreement and Fortnte is back on iPhones in the EU. Epic even offered a free skin for EU iPhone users. We figure the rest of the world will follow suit. As for Samsung, Fortnite is moving from the Galaxy Store and will now be playable via the regular Epic Games Store app. Once more, Epic is offering a free gift to all the “affected” players.
Samsung Users Will Be Getting a Space-Touched Serenity Set
To celebrate the advances that Epic and Samsung made, Epic Games is offering a free Space-Touched Serenity set for Samsung users who meet a couple of conditions. First, you have to have played Fortnite on your Samsung device at any point between December 3, 2022, and August 16, 2024. Second, you have to download and play Fortnite once again on your Samsung at any point between Friday, August 16, 2024, and Sunday, September 15, 2024.
The Set will be given out on Sunday, September 22, 2024, and will include the Andromeda Outfit, the Starforged Blades Back Bling and Pickaxe, and the Galactic Turquoise Wrap. We expect that the set will be available in the item shop as usual somewhere in the near future.
Samsung Users Are Happy With This While the Rest Keeps Grumbling
As you’d expect, Samsung users are ecstatic. Epic is rewarding them for the trouble of reinstalling the game on a different app. Quite a sweet move by the devs to reward the affected players, the same way iPhone users in the EU got a free Katalina set to celebrate the return of Fortnite to iPhone users in the European Union.
Unfortunately, non-Samsung users are a bit miffed by all of this. Just like with Katalina and EU iPhones, those who are unable to get the skin (by not being Samsung users) are unhappy with this decision. For example, Jacob Arnold on X stated: “…Super unfair. They can get it for free by just playing the game but anyone else who wants to get it has to wait for to come to the shop and spend $20 to get it.” On Reddit, Tumblweed_Chaser69 said: “getting a lil tired of device exclusive skins, just give us hard challenges or something for skins”.
It looks like some players just can’t handle the fact that someone else is getting something for free. What we would advocate is being happy for our Samsung-using Fortnite friends. It’s quite unreasonable to expect free stuff for something that does not concern you in any way. Keeping a healthy community is more important than one free skin.
