Patches are how games are kept up-to-date and are especially important for online multiplayer games. In Fortnite, patches add new content, vault and unvault weapons and other items, add skins, fix problematic issues, and more. Fortnite Patch Notes v30.10
The latest patch has added quite a lot of content. With the new Festival Season, Metallica collab, game modes, and cosmetics, no wonder fans were excited for this one.
Fortnite Festival and Mettalica Collab
The third Season of Fortnite Festival is over, and Season 4 has arrived, with Metallica leading the charge. This patch introduced a whole lot of Metallica-related cosmetics, new Jam and Lobby Tracks.
There are Fortnite Outfits for each band member (complete with LEGO styles), as well as personalized instruments for your Fortnite Festival jams. As always, a new Reward Track is added for Season 4, with the usual free and Premium Reward Track.
An in-game concert is on the horizon, called “Metallica: Fuel. Fire. Fury.” and that is not all. A brand-new game mode is coming to Festival, a competitive spin on this music-playing game, called Battle Stage.
Battle Royale
New Weapon – Ride the Lightning
In line with the hard’n’heavy theme of this update, a new Mythic weapon has been added. You can now use the Ride the Lightning (an obvious homage to Metallica’s popular album) guitar weapon to “Gather your teammates and shred through the skies, delivering an amplified dive at the very end!”
It creates lightning strikes that you can “ride”, and end with an explosive dive.
Metallica Loot Island
A new weapon is not all there is to it. A special Loot Island will now appear during your Battle Royale games. This island looks like a stage and is inspired by Metallica’s M72 World Tour. Climb up there and jam on the stage to capture this POI.
Rocket Racing New Track
Even Rocket Racing got some love. The Metallica collab added Thrash Mountain track. “This volcanic track is a tribute to all things rock — and not just the geology kind. You’ve got instrumental monuments, a stretch of road like a fretboard, and Metallica’s “Fuel” playing in the background.” It is a Novice track that you can unlock in ranked racing at Bronze I.
New cosmetics are also added to Rocket Racing, such as Backfire Car Body, Puppetmaster Backfire Decal, and Chasing Light Wheels.
New Car Bodies
Even more vehicle-related stuff is here. A Metallica-inspired Car Body is here, in a special bundle (and everything here is eligible for cross-game ownership with Rocket League) :
