The Marvel Season is fully underway in Fortnite. You get to see and be the comic book version of your favorite X-Men and other characters from the Marvel cinematic universe. As for the plot, everything revolves around Dr Doom causing some mischief. Speaking of, what is a new Season in Fortnite without some thematic items? Doctor Doom’s Arcane Gauntlets are one of them. Unfortunately, the players seem to have some issues with this Mythic item.
What Are Doctor Doom’s Arcane Gauntlets?
Doctor Doom’s Arcane Gauntlets are a Mythic item first added to Fortnite in Chapter 2 Season 4, and then recently unvaulted again, in Chapter 5 Season 4. Their in-game description says that you can “Fire arcane blasts from your fingertips or concentrate your energy into a mystical bomb to devastate your enemies.“
They have unlimited uses and are obtained by defeating the Doombot in Castle Doom. Furthermore, you have to damage opponents with these Gauntlets in order to complete one of the Kickstart quests. Their mystical bomb is great for damaging enemies that are hiding or behind cover, due to their significant area of effect. So, what seems to be the problem?
There Isn’t Enough Gauntelts to Go Around
The issue with Doctor Doom’s Arcane Gauntlets is the fact that there is only one of them on the island. In practice, that means that the majority of players will flock towards Castle Doom, and everyone will fight over them. This is discussed in a Reddit thread, started by New-String4280. The general verdict is: “There’s only 1 and with so many other fun items to use it’s just not worth the crowded landing zone. I suspect they’ll be getting used left and right once they become more common” as said by Turbulent_Juicebox.
You get more similar comments, like “I’ve had them twice this entire season.” by BoerseunZA and “I’m hoping they become more common when Doom comes out and get that beam attack from the trailer. Only having 1 on the map sucks.“ by Cella91.
Others argue that they are easily countered by getting airborne and that they are just like Captain America’s Shield, just a little worse. “Unless used in a very specific way, they’re just caps shield with a higher dropoff, higher rarity, same damage and zero aim assist” said one player.
In conclusion, if these could drop like other items (from Chests, for example), the players would actually get the opportunity to use them. We hope that Epic will do something about this item to make it a bit more obtainable, or at least more effective.
